Was there tonight, have to say the crowd where I was sitting had no Interest in the game whatsoever until the last over when they stopped eating and chatting for 3 hours to face the pitch for 2 minutes, great game for those paying attention
I was there too with a bunch of people from work. You literally could have been describing our group, but I'm guessing that's half the crowd. For 3 people (a Russian, a Chinese and a Pole (and no that's not a start of a terrible joke)) it was their first ever cricket game, nice to get new people into it.
As an aside, one of our group spent £25 on chicken, looked really smug with himself when he got back, only to place it onto a chair which then catapulted it backwards in the gap between the chairs. We were laughing our heads off. Only beaten by a chap 5 minutes later near us who then did it with 4 gin and tonics. Fuck me that stadium is expensive.
Just popped over to Sainsbury's by the St Lawrence cricket ground in Canterbury and I saw the wonderful sight of the Charlton coach going by me into the ground on Saturday. I had been staying with my Dad helping with his care to give my brother a break and he lives just 300 yards away.
Those of you ardent kent cricket fans who go away will probably know this but as I was unsure I walked around the ground to where it was parked behind the old scoreboard and spoke to the driver.
He had come to pick up the Kent lads to drive them to Taunton for their 20/20 match against Somerset on the Sunday.
I asked the driver to tell the Kent spitfire captain Sam Billings to bat first and put a big total of 220+ as Somerset are a cracking unbeaten 20/20 side but Kent could win if they kept their nerve, took their catches as the game could well go deep into the last over.
Billings, being an ardent Man United fan, must love travelling in that coach. It's hard not to sympathise with a United supporter born and bred in the suburbs of Manchester.

This is far too easy a question for AA but just in case there is one Charlton fan and Kent fan who doesn't know this what is the connection with Sam Billings, Ben Garner and Jonny Williams 🤔 As it's a hot day for most of us I don't want to tax your brains too much !

They were all born in Pembury as were Ed Smith and Michael Yardy
The interesting one there is Quinn because he wasn't in the original 12 and is opening the bowling with Kashif Ali. In addition, O'Riordan is back playing too.

Brilliant over from Rogers. Kent win by 4 runs
They do indeed have a kit for bowling and a kit for batting. Not seen that before

Back to back gutsy performances with a special shout out for our opening pair.
Pleased to see Joey E back in the team & thought he did his job well.
Weather permitting we'll be at Weds night's match . Anyone else going ?
I was impressed with Finch's cameo, I don't remember him playing those funky shots before, I assume he has been working on this part of his game.
