  • As GarryManilow mentioned on the previous page , yes Huddersfield have splashed the cash in the past on the likes of Joe Taylor and Dion Charles but Kevin Nagle the owner still isn't overly popular. Wonder how legit this Gailbraith interest is from them or if it's him trying to show they're going to be ambitious again before being turned down for a Championship club.

For all you CL young'uns that missed it, without a doubt the most legendary CL meltdown EVER. Over a psf. Peak.

I hope in a way Galbraith stays at Orient so he can be linked with Charlton every window .
Hayden Mullins has never been truly replaced.
Has Galbraith been linked? Not seen it anywhere.....
    Apparently going to Huddersfield...🙄

Wouldn't surprise me if it ends up the same way , their owners tweets when Alfie chose Brum were highly entertaining 🤣

The apology to Richard Nixon should be as loud as the disrespect to him on here. The big man’s on the money yet again!

We want no white wash at the CL house.

The Huddersfield fans absolutely hate Dion Charles as well. They reckon he's a spent force, 18 games with 0 goals and he was spotted in the away end of Bolton's game at Blackpool the same day we beat Huddersfield 4-0 at The Valley which they did not like. Something that riles football fans up as much as not spending money is spending a lot of money on poor players who don't care
Dion isnt happy at huddersfield himself btw feels as though theyre not playing him to any of his strengths and is being scapegoated.
still has ambitions to play in the champ so hes not happy on that front either ( the move was sold to him as back in the champ this year LATEST ) - source: Dion Charles )

Paul Mullins dropped two divisions to go abroad to play for a team in Wales: To earn more money and fantastic goal bonuses which all came to fruition despite him now being the sixth rated striker as the American owned club have had a triple promotion.

I agree I don't see Galbraith doing the same as he will get good offers in the Championship with signing on money and decent dosh to at least match Huddersfield if not be above.

Just pleased that we made a bid for a player on the up at 24 with his best years surely still to come.
Very different proposition going to Wrexham to going to Huddersfield though. Wrexham were shelling out more wages than I think Huddersfield would, plus he could on/near Merseyside. Mullin also probably knew he wouldn’t ever get a better offer. Galbraith is younger and on a more upward trajectory, play it right and he could be in the PL within a few years. Play it wrong and he’s stuck in L1 wondering what could have been.

I believe you have just agreed with me 😀

said it before (and I'll opine it once more) bid £3 Million as a final offer, then try to discuss personal terms. If we bid cheapskate, we'll get cheapskate players .. of course it would be good to know if the owners are intending to invest in players for the future, or to use the L1 cash reward to repay themselves for their past outlays

A 3 million total budget is not ambitious no matter how you sugar coat it with exciting finds and frees but of course no one knows what the budget is it's all just guesswork until the window closes.

My favourite beside this was the grass snake thread but that was deleted in an act of what I can only describe as profound moderator vandalism. IYKYK

Edit: the thread is still here, but the best post isn't (it was something along the lines of 'keep the snake and get rid of the grandma')

Summer of 2015 was a weird time on here. The best of times
Very funny, but a sad reminder when you see Konsa, Aribo and Lookman were on the pitch for us of how far we sank afterwards..

It would be good to get the Orient midfielder but I’m pretty calm about our transfer business now we’ve got a manager like Jones, who has hand-picked his recruitment lead, who happens to be a well respected negotiator and an ex Charlton player.
It feels like we’ll be ok and I haven’t felt that about CAFC transfers for a very long time.
    My thoughts exactly!
  • Good article from Rich Cawley’s Substack this morning. No new names mentioned but a good overview of where we are likely looking to strengthen and a recap of some of the credible rumours put out there so far.
Hopefully Golfie reads the part about systems and not strikers getting the job done in the championship the last couple of seasons 😉.

Haven't read it so cant comment. Do you have to subscribe  ?  If so I wont be.

I think you make a very good point about Jones having  his own recruitment guy and a big say in transfers. Huddersfield tend to sign a big name or someone who has done well in the division but give little thought to whether the player suits the style, and that changes with the manager carousel anyway. I think there is pull in players knowing that they have been specifically chosen by the manager to play a role in their team. You know you're wanted and that your skills will be utilised and appreciated. I remember that talking with Jones is what won Docherty over as they both felt he could do more going forward and Doc appreciated Jones recognising that about him. Obviously money will talk too but I'd like to think knowing you'll play and be used well is a big consideration for players at this level

Huddersfield can outbid everyone and Orient can accept Huddersfield’s offer, but if he doesn’t want another season in L1 he can turn it down.

Going to be interesting to see if this moves quickly or drags on through the summer. A big decision for the player himself, does he want to get in early and have a full preseason, or does he risk staying at Orient trying to get the very best move? That doesn’t always work out, and comes with risks of injuries and not having a full preseason to settle in at a new club.
Exactly what I was musing over this mornings coffee in the garden when it was nice and cool at 06:30. Does he go for the money and league 1 or push himself to the Championship? He can see we are on the up, and likely to get starts, but should he wait for another option. Can't be an easy decision.  But I'd go to Charlton cause were are the nuts.

Blowing what probably is most of our budget on a player with 1 year left on his contract and has played at league 1 level only is absolutely madness no matter how good he might be at that level.
The point is that you, I, no-one on here has an idea what is our transfer budget.
You GUESS  probably £3 Million(ish), like I say, no-one here knows.
As I said above it would be good to know what is the amount the owners are prepared to invest.
I would hope there are funds available to sign a player (or players) who Nathan really wants, no-one wants or expects us to pay silly money or to risk bankruptcy.
But, I doubt if we will ever know
