On top of that you have a club like Ipswich who as well as parachute payments, have also just sold Delap for 30m. So even if they bank the parachute payment and just spend the Delap money, they've probably got 10 times our transfer budget just from that 1 sale. This just shows you what we're up against.
Not so sure about Ipswich. There must come a time where there has to be some ‘payback’ for all the money spent getting them from L1 to the PL. that parachute money might look a bit too tempting to those that had to fund successive promotions, especially when there will be the Delap money they can to point to for earmarking for new players and wages, plus anyone they do get won’t come in cheap be the rest of the squad will be on PL wages already

I would be more than happy to settle for a competitive Championship team and The Valley in club ownership. In fact I would have that over winning The Premier League in a insecure rented stadium.

Millwall are a good club with a good team, but just as Crystal Palace are stuck with their awful ground, Millwall are stuck with so many awful fans. Millwall don’t care, and the pathetic effort of the manufactured Crystal Palace support suggests they care desperately.
This was Portsmouth’s start to the season just gone. Stuck with the manager and ended up securing survival before the final day of the season. All about keeping the faith and sticking with the manager/team
After that dreadful start and the crushing Stoke result, it's amazing he stayed in post. The noise from the fans towards owners must surely have applied a lot of pressure. Fair play to them for sticking with.
Our own owners now know that it can get tough, but as out season has just shown, an upturn can be just around the corner. Something that will hopefully keep them and Jones in good harmony.
Staying up is the goal. Only a brave fan (or one who is happy to lose) will put money on us staying up this season coming.
That graphic doesn't include their first game which was a 3 3 draw away at Leeds. The fixture computer dealt Pompey a terrible hand and that's why I'm so keen we start with something like Oxford (h), Pompey (a), PNE (h). We have to play everyone twice so I'm in no rush for any glamour.
I'd be amazed if Southampton win the league this year coming. One of the worst ever PL sides, and Ipswich and Leicester both doubled their points total, so its a bit perplexing to see how they would reverse that this coming season. Looking at their squad, it looks very thin on quality.
I'd be very surprised if all 3 relegated clubs aren't in the running for promotion. They all have decent squads (which is why they were promoted in 23-24), are likely to keep most of their players, and they also have a £40m head start on the other 21 clubs because of parachutetrampoline payments.
Obviously it’s still very early but at present Charlton are a Championship club with a League One squad. In fact I’d go as far as suggesting that we’re still miles off having a Championship squad. Encouraged that we’re looking at players like Galbraith but looking and signing are two completely different things. I’d say we need another six at least players that are guaranteed to cut it at Championship level. Next seasons tough and at present, just in my opinion looking like a relegation cert. That will change but we can only judge by what we have now. I’d settle for survival.

I expect Millwall to be in and around the play-offs if the club invests some of the Flemming & Esse money wisely. Long-term, I think the club are in great hands & with this new 999 lease & opportunity to develop their own plans, will cement their current standing as a decent Championship club chasing the dream. And there seems to be a big push with the academy, which is why they tried Edwards. But have settled on Neil, who is a happy half way house between solid Championship manager & a good coach at developing young players. Also the recruitment is good, and they seemed to have started the cycle of buying rough diamonds & selling them on for a big profit.
In general, the ‘proper’ yo-yo relegated PL teams look a cut above these days. I say proper, as don’t count Luton in that category. Leeds & Burnley looked very good, although Millwall did beat both at The Den. That was under Harris. Which brings me onto Charlton. Jones will no doubt go down a similar path to the one Harris did, ie not have much of the ball & try and nick wins. Can be effective against the flasher teams, but can also be found out & negated too, hence why he resigned. Goals may be very hard to come with the current squad. Reckon Ipswich & Southampton will be similar to Leeds & Burnley, in that they will be a bit of a cut above. The rest of the division will be highly competitive. Can see teams getting relegated on 49-52 points, with no one cut adrift. Maybe Wednesday, if they can’t sort themselves out. And the play-offs being a low bar again, of c70 points.

Well we all hope that’s true but to make an impact other than survive is quite a statement. The names I’m seeing mentioned as possible signings don’t make me think top half is doable. In any case they would say that wouldn’t they.
I think this season should be one of consolidation, I think there are several sides such as Oxford, Portsmouth, QPR, Sheffield Wednesday, Hull etc that we must be looking to finish above. I haven't seen loads of predictions for us to go down which warms my heart. I think the Jones factor and a packed Valley will help us too and much also depends on the quality of our recruitment.
