He got 20 goals from 51 shots in league two and only started 20 odd games last season scoring 7. Reckon he'd be an impact sub but I'd say he'd be a smart signing. Luke a younger Chuks with pace, what's not to like.
Just had a look over on their forum seems like they're eyeing up Samson Tovide from Col U as Oloafes replacement if he goes... Makes sense stylistically. If Olaofe gives us the physical presence and pressing I wonder if we go and get a younger version of Godden too? A proper six yard box sniffer dog who can learn from Godden would be ideal.
All this probably also points to Kanu potentially going out on loan even with 9 subs.
£8m is laughable, he made 42 league apps for them last season but 16 of those were off the bench. If he was worth that he’d have started every game he was available.
£2m sounds more believable, but still feels like they’re being optimistic. Have Stockport sold anyone for a big fee in the last few years?
If it’s FB then it’s probably bollocks. He might be a “beast” but I think that works in L1. Don’t know of many beasts at Championship or above who have much success these days. He’s a poor man’s Chuks Aneke.
The likes of DKD, Ethan Galbraith and Isaac Olafe would be both exciting and sensible signings imo.
The best of League One and players with momentum in their careers, to match the momentum we’ve found since that big turnaround in form post Christmas. Wether deals for these players materialise is yet to be determined but if the rumours are true, I think it’s the way to go when compared to signing ex Premier League or Championship has-beens, or players from overseas who don’t know the league, an approach employed by clubs stagnating in the Championship, like Hull City.
Heartening also that there hasn’t been a big ‘…chuffed to be back at Charlton’ official site interview with Phil Chapple since he returned. You suspect he’s been hard at work getting deals done.
Stockport fan in piece. Some whispers going around our camp that you're about to sign our star striker tanto olaofe. You've got yourselves a beast if it's true 👍
Facebook rumour .
Sounds like the guy who first posted this on their message board is a respected poster and normally bang on. Would be a decent signing in my opinion, always a threat, presses high, works his nuts off.
2 million would be a ridiculous price. Where are all these mental prices for L1 players coming from
If we hadn’t gone up it’s the minimum we’d expect for the likes of TC and Ramsay isn’t it?
Stockport are of course a smaller club, but they’re also a well run club and have had money invested, they’re not going to roll over and sell one of their best players for say £500k when there’s now so much money in the Championship.
It’s been 10 years since we paid over £1m for a player. The Championship is like the PL years ago with the money being spent. We’ve not been a part of it with our ownership issues while sloshing in L1 and selling our better players at the first sign of a £1-2m offer, such as Grant and Konsa.
It’s a good sign we appear willing to pay £1-2m for a few players, as that’s what it’s going to take to properly compete. Proven Championship players under contract are likely to cost far more, so we need to look for the best we can afford elsewhere.
With the way the transfer market is going nowadays 1-2m is probably now the going rate for a good League 1 player. The money is quickly getting out of hand across the EFL and I'm not just talking about Birmingham, MK Dons paying £1m for Aaron Collins in L2 is crazy too. I know we haven't got anything across the line yet but I'm liking the approach of going for the best players we played against last season or young players that if they hit , there's still the opportunity to sell them on for a decent fee.
It's just down to Chapple and NJ to get the balance right, a sprinkling of championship knowhow will probably be mixed in too because as Rich pointed out yesterday on his podcast there isn't a huge amount of that.
Here we go again, this one has been given legs because he comes from the area, posters desperation in signing someone that they have highlighted is now just silly.

No, it’s coming from their end and someone who is reliable aswell apparently.

No, it's been given legs by it being mentioned on a Stockport forum.
That a club is local to a player will be a factor in many moves, perhaps in this one too along with the fee, wages, status, manager, style of play and family.

It's been given legs because the guy who posted it on the Stockport forum is apparently in the know and another poster said that if he's posting it then it's usually spot on info.

We can get ours up there. Let's get some more fights going.
@ForeverAddickted your match previews are shite!!!
No they're not they're great I can't pretend. We don't deserve to be in the 2500s with my attitude.
