Wonder if West Ham would loan us George Earthy? Had a good season last season at Bristol City and would give Doc competition. I get it's probably unlikely because it could be seen as blocking Karoy.
George Earthy has definitely been told to look for an another loan deal. Because he was the actual player mentioned when I was told this.
I was also told that he didn’t enjoy his time at Bristol City, he felt isolated. so it is doubtful if he would return there.
He lives in Brentwood, so he might very well consider coming to us.
No way Asiimwe should be considered as the backup RWB.
He struggled to get into a League 2 side last season at Walsall, and indeed was only involved in 4 wins all season for them, one where he was subbed on with a minute left and they were 2 nil up, and the last game of the season, then the 2 playoff semi finals.
He played 30% of the minutes he could have done there, hardly the mark of a player ready to play Championship football
You're only looking at statistics. Sam. There's the context also.
Wallsall's collapse in form, unsettled team and loss of confidence
Asiimwe had a lengthy injury early on but then settled into his role and performed consistently well.
If Richard Cawley is correct and that the club are looking at five more signings then I’m a little concerned to be honest.
As I said a page or two back, I’m sure that his guess was 6/7 as a minimum. I believe he also talked about the club/NJ won’t say how many players they’re targeting.
A 5 signings target sounds about right to me, I don’t think we need more than that, but however many we do sign, the sooner the better. We saw last season that you need a core starting eleven that know each other and how they play. Bringing new players in is all well and good but it puts the team back to being a bunch of strangers again. Only finding that core eleven in December isn’t really an option this coming season. We need to be looking to pick up points from the start and to keep it going. We may not win or draw every game but that has to be the aim.
Crazy. I think people underestimate the quality of the Championship.
The hardest thing is bringing in quality rather than quantity. 7 QUALITY signings would be perfect, but the risk is that we bring in 7 reasonable players and end up with a squad both short of quality and quantity .
If Richard Cawley is correct and that the club are looking at five more signings then I’m a little concerned to be honest.
I can't remember the exact quote but I'm sure it was more that we had 5 signings (including Sonny Carey) lined up but players were away or on holiday...not that we were only after 5. But I could be wrong...
Why loan good West Ham academy players when we have our own good academy players? Contracts have been given for those most at the forefront recently, why undermine that with other clubs academy products? Loaning senior players could be justified, but look at the young loanees we have had, some good, many poor.
The last west ham loanee we had in Cullen did well. I would take George Earthy did great last season at Bristol City, Freddie Potts too (who has a connection through his brother Dan)
If Richard Cawley is correct and that the club are looking at five more signings then I’m a little concerned to be honest.
It's probably much less restrictive than it sounds - it could just as easily be there are five signings/positions we're working on right now and depending on how those go and what happens next we then decide afterwards what we focus on next.
As long as the the 7 signings are upgrades and not gambles like Sonny Carey then it should be enough to stay up.
But they would all have to be immediate starters.
Carey looks to be a decent signing with nigh on 50 Championship appearances so hardly a gamble. He’s proved he can play at that level although his best performances would appear to have been made last season in league one.

I emailed Andy Scott and here are two of my quotes from the email
"A couple of weeks
ago I went to watch the PL2 game between Crystal Palace U21 & West Ham U21
at Sutton. I was there working for Hartlepool United who are interested
in one of the Palace defenders on loan. (Dan Imray – excellent prospect at RB but
also filled in as RWB when West Ham were reduced to 10 men)" and "In addition to him
there were a couple of others who looked worth keeping an eye on – George
Earthy the attacking midfielder (possibly needs to bulk up) and Kaelan Casey at
Centre Back (who looked very calm, strong and imposing)"
Unsurpringly my email never got a response but there are some really good prospects at that level. If only people would listen occasionally

And I think people underestimate the quality we have within our squad. It may well be in for a rude awakening when the season starts but with a little strengthening it will adapt and overcome.
Disagree, this squad as it is is bottom 3 in the Championship.

There are a lot of players who have championship appearances but weren't championship ready, he didn't light up this league and was ultimately relegated. Blackpool fans reactions are what I am taking on board. Pretty anonymous but been good the last 2 months of the season, that's what the club have gambled on, that he can replicate that form. If he can't then we have signed an inconsistent league 1 player, that is the harsh reality.
As long as the the 7 signings are upgrades and not gambles like Sonny Carey then it should be enough to stay up.

All signings are gambles are they not?
Not necessarily as it is extremely rare to sign a proven player of consistent quality and then they suddenly become useless, although if we were to be pedantic then yes, there's always a gamble. Injuries, struggle for form, might not suit a system etc. I would always rather we sign players that have done it over 46 games though, than a player who has had bit of a purple patch.
Some signings you just know are gonna work (Alfie May, consistent over 46 games) and some you just know are unlikely to (Gassan Ahadme, purple patch form)
Everyone on here knows or should at least be aware that we need a lot of business to be done, think a lot of these posts are through boredom/the transfer activity being so quiet. Doubt anyone on here actually believes we can stay up without the signings so we are all just collectively stating the obvious tbf.
I'm hoping we see some serious activity in the next 2 weeks or so.
Will make the signing of Galbraith even sweeter now if it happens. I’d wager this isn’t correct information. Just a bloke who still hasn’t gotten over Wembley.
Oh dear poor old Leyton 🥱 Orient really don't like us do they after Wembley and how we didn't let them beat us, now apparently we are a smaller club than them into the bargain...
They’re either extremely deluded or this is someone taking them for a ride
Smaller club than Orient? You could debate all day how big we are vs other Championship clubs and the bigger clubs in L1, but if you ask any fan of other EFL clubs Orient are bigger than us and you’d struggle to find many that would believe that’s the case.
They’re either extremely deluded or this is someone taking them for a ride
How are Orient in a better position than us... For starters they have to put up with Clare, Jaiyesimi and Edmonds-Green, I'm still waiting for REG to make us regret letting him join Orient in the first place.
Jokes aside, I wont be surprised if Orient struggle to replicate next season. They remind me of Lincoln and Shrewsbury in years gone by, who have reached the League One Play-Off Final in past seasons because they've been successful in the loan market, and haven't been able to follow it up
Replacing Keeley, Donley and Kelman will be the hardest task for them this coming season, and wont be surprised if they struggle to keep hold of Wellens either - Speaking with my Orient supporting mate, he's very much waiting to see what type of players they bring in this summer before making any predictions, I don't think they've even got a Goalkeeper on their books at the moment for example.
