  • If Joe Gomez left Liverpool and we had another £5M to spend, would this squad be too much to ask for, for next season then...

                             Wickens or Tornqvist

    Not Olaofe please
The bloke has no idea where the goal is in the big games. Surely better will come along.
Ahh yes the big game being the semi final 2nd leg which he scored in.
An apparent flick with his back to goal that i don't think he knew much about. I think it may have been a lucky deflection.
Looks on purpose to me from this clip, which has a couple of angles

You don't know ball if you think that's a "lucky deflection"
  • We won’t get anything if Pope leaves Newcastle will we? Assume we got any payout when he left Burnley.
I think we get the same percentage if we had a sell on before, from whatever Burnley make from this sell on. So it won’t be much but we might get something

E.g. it would be something like 20% of the 20% Burnley get, if both teams had the same 20% sell ons in their deals

I always thought in such cases the sell on dies after the first sale? Surely you can’t keep getting percentages every time a player moves on?

I can’t remember where I heard it, think it might have been from an interview with the Exeter CEO talking about Watkins and how they’d be due more money if he moves on from villa. Maybe it’s not a typical clause and just one that Exeter put in that deal with Brentford
  • Stand down, as you were.

This is for international caps but I think sell ons are the same. Any money that the club you sold the player to makes, you get the sell on percentage amount of it.

Thinking about it this makes sense, as otherwise clubs would pay lower transfer fees and put higher add ons/sell ons in deals, to avoid paying as high a sell on percentage

. I’m not sure though that if Villa sold him to Arsenal and Brentford had negotiated a sell on when they sold him to Villa that Exeter would get a percentage of that too.

I missed where we were linked with Tornqvist ...

according to BeSoccer his ELO rating of 73 is way above AMB (59)

What the hell is an ELO rating? Wembley or Bust?
The one I know is a chess rating, designed by Arpad Elo, a Hungarian. 1800 is a reasonable club player, 73 would be someone who’s just learnt the moves.
So Maynard-Brewer is crap at chess, as well?

We would definitely win a lot of games with 21 players on the pitch that’s for sure
Still lose to the spanners though.

A BeSoccer Elo score is a numerical rating that represents a soccer team's skill level, calculated using the Elo rating system. This system, originally developed for chess, is used to estimate the relative strength of teams based on their past results and the outcomes of matches against other teams. The Elo score adjusts based on wins, losses, and the strength of the opponent, with stronger teams gaining or losing more points in matches against weaker opponents.”

its not an exact science but there isn’t anything else except ratings in Football manager (which has been used as a defence point in the past - thought not by Charlton to my knowledge.

If the clause is for a % of the profit, it would normally involve all profits, including profits made from future sell on clauses.

OK, thanks for explaining. That makes sense, though what practical use it would be I cannot imagine. But you were quoting it about an individual player (Torqvist). Since wins and defeats would be the summation of the efforts (or lack of, in Kirk's case) of 21 or more other players, it would be impossible to calculate.

Agyemang to Derby according to Fab Romano. They're getting the chequebook out early with this and Carlton Morris.

In most cases a sell on fee is only applicable the first time the player moves on. So for example if Gomez leaves Liverpool we will get it, but we won't then get the same sell on fee if he is sold on after that.

What we would get though is a solidarity payment which is up to 5% of the transfer fee.

"All clubs that have played a part in the player's development between the ages of 12 and 23 are entitled to a share of the solidarity payment, calculated based on the length of time the player spent at each club."

Apparently we get his house and pension too when ever he decides to hang up his boots and retire.

Luton apparently had a 3m bid for him rejected in January, so although he's now 6 months closer to the end of his contract he must still be costing a fair bit.

So where are the other 3 we were promised were lined up and would definitely get done? 😉
My guess. We had a rethink.
Don't doubt they weren't at an advanced stage but imo they would've been L1 standard.Carey was the only one to be deemed up to the new level
  • Any deal that was definitely “in the bag” so to speak could have been held up because of players or agents being on holiday or for any number of logistical reasons but if they were signed, sealed but not yet delivered I’d suggest that they would be in the building on day one of the pre season. I too heard that there were four signings that were “done” and I’m assuming Carey was one. As for the other three, if they’re not at Sparrows when the squad returns then I’m thinking something has happened that means they won’t be signing.

All three that were 'in the bag''? Seems unlikely, so they weren't in the bag and the rumour was just like most; wrong.

Shame, I'm itching to see us strengthen as much as the next person.

On holiday ……. Gilbert ( hopefully he not one of our targets ) has been on holiday since the play off final .. enjoying life and training in Dubai.

Yes, you can.  We were getting money off Defoe's varioua moves for years.

All depends on the details of the deal and if a profit was made.

Apparently derby are getting some new investment that should be announced very shortly. Guessing the money is coming from there. Shame as with that and Eustace in charge I think they will be well clear of the drop
