Agyemang to Derby according to Fab Romano. They're getting the chequebook out early with this and Carlton Morris.
Apparently derby are getting some new investment that should be announced very shortly. Guessing the money is coming from there. Shame as with that and Eustace in charge I think they will be well clear of the drop
Yeah with Eustace in charge and a bit of a warchest to sign players I'd stick them firmly in midtable.

That John textor bloke ? Luckily our billionaire has more billions.
Simon Jordan has apparently suggested he buys the massives. His other team, Lyon, have just been relegated for financial mismanagement though so we'll see

So where are the other 3 we were promised were lined up and would definitely get done? 😉
My guess. We had a rethink.
Don't doubt they weren't at an advanced stage but imo they would've been L1 standard.Carey was the only one to be deemed up to the new level
If we had 4 players lined up and Carey was the best of the bunch, our scouts need a performance meeting. You'd like to think we are identifying a higher/more consistent standard of player now. For every Kayne Ramsay (punt) you get between 5-10 duds.

Carey is a punt at this stage.

Be interesting to see where these 3 end up, particularly Barry of course.

"🚨 Aston Villa are ready to sell Leander Dendoncker, Louie Barry and Kaine Kesler-Hayden by the end of this week.

🚨 The trio are free to find new clubs before the 30 June accounts deadline as they look to ease PSR concerns."

Only 5 days away from that deadline, someone could get a bit of a deal if they are in a rush to sell?

If they're trying to help with PSR then you imagine we will have no chance with Barry or KK-H as they'll need pretty decent fees

Saw that last night, Villa fans expecting £8-12M for Louie Barry in posts below it seems destined for disappointment I feel !
  • Barry and KKH would be excellent targets but I suspect there will be some PSR shenanigans going on where they go for £10m+ each

Barry had a very decent first half of last season in League 1, appears to have only played a handful of games for Hull in second half of last season - £8-12m seems ludicrous.
  • Given Villa got £19m last summer for Omari Kellyman who has made 2 senior appearances in his whole career in some weird PSR roulette deal involving Everton and Chelsea , it's really hard to see Barry going for a low fee.

He got injured soon after joining Hull

Yeah that all stank. Can't blame them for working round the rules that way, but they each bought players off each other for stupids of millions and it completely sorted them out for PSR rulings. Maatsen went for £40million to Villa.

As soon as someone mentions that sales will be needed to make PSR work I just automatically assume there's going to be some inflated fees going on.

The whole PSR thing is flawed anyway. Billionaire owners unable to invest whatever they want into their business.

The inflated homegrown player sales was dodgy, and of course we have Chelsea's owners selling hotels and their women's team to themselves to get around heavy losses. The whole thing is a joke.

Where at any point has it been said Carey the best player we are going to sign this summer .. Carey fits the job that Jones needs …whoever we buy don’t matter how they rate out of 10 each week if they are better then we got in a position that jones wants then that’s good enough … this team is built on spirit , team work , playing for each other these are the sort of players we will be bringing into the group to enhance..
Except Gillesphey, Docherty and Mannion, who are undroppable, right?

Offiah and Fabianski were the only "rumours" in it I think, but I didn't get past the defence section
  • Just reads like someone that's cobbled together every rumour with a source and tried to turn it into a piece to hit an number of articles to post per day count.

They replaced Mannion, Small, Ramsay, Berry and TC in what was our best 11 with Fabianski, Offiah, Mbengue, Galbraith and Mothersille.

Didn't NJ say that we were fishing in the same pond which ever division we were playing in next season ? Of course as you say there could have been a rethink.

To be honest I have always found that hard to believe. Unless you do what Birmingham did, it's very difficult to sign championship players in League 1.

It would be a bit daft by any club to make signings if they could be playing in a different league*. The playing field changes completely.

Been a while since the debate on wages - thought I’d share I’ve heard from the Blackpool end Carey was rumoured to have turned down £8k a week from them.

I’d imagine we matched or got close to that as a bare minimum?
If that and the figures quoted around Small are correct then it suggests it was a case of not wanting to pay what he wanted rather than not being able to
always be a fine balance between paying what newcomers want whilst not upsetting the current first team who might be on considerably less
  • No idea if that link is true, but like the look of the camper van on offer.
