Bristol City fan with local info for your visit in August

Nice to have you back in the Championship.

The Bristol area in August grinds to a halt, suggest coming by train, don't use the Bristol Parkway bound trains.
Split tickets via Didcot Parkway reduces the cost and group save is available(buy two tickets and the third goes free)
Have your tickets issued to Parson Street and its then a just a short walk to the ground.
I would imagine you will get a full match day ticket allocation of 3,500 so please buy your match day tickets as soon as they go on Sale.
Will come back nearer the kick off date to supply further local info.

Do you still have skips and the park outside the away end? :D

The info is very helpful, Bristol is a pleasant gaff.

Thank you for your info but no offence I doubt I’ll be going to Bristol City again after the horrible experience we had our FA Cup game 1994 when your fans were attacking us and throwing bricks. A pretty frightening experience for me as a 8 year old at the time.

That was some day. I seem to remember some Charlton fans trying to break into a pub near the ground after the match.

Nice to be playing City rather than Rovers. A narrow defeat on our last visit in 2019

    1994, oh the memories.

City fan saying after the match "Charlton, you're small time"

Now I could maybe take that from Liverpool or Man Utd but as I replied "but you're Bristol City, Mate"

What a coincidence. I'm sitting on a coach in Bristol reading this right now, bound for London.  Tickets from under £10 on the coach but always prefer a train of course. Shame that train tickets on this route are never below about £85 for those of us solo travellers with no group save option.

I was down there for a dinner with some friends recently. We had planned to get the train down for the Sunday and return on the Monday but when I tried buying the tickets the prices were so fucking ridiculous, even with railcards, i had to check I hadn’t selected first class tickets. We drove.

Last time I went to Bristol me and my bro ended up at Ashton Gate. Slight issue...we were playing at Rovers and our cabbie had taken us to the wrong ground!! We had spent a few hours in The Apple pre match though so not 100% sure where the blame lies here haha!

Agreed with this, have been a few times since we hurried back to the tranquility of Bath.
Having said that I have hated them every since and preferred Rovers.

I’ve hated rovers, I think because of the shite cricket ground, awful away section, shit remote area of the city and represented our status

Vs a few good away days in the old terrace at Ashton gate, proper ground, the favourite being our first visit since 94 and iwelumo with his 2nd stoppage time winner header in 4 days just after prem relegation and when I thought we were going to storm straight back up

Didn’t a rovers player clatter wrecklessly into and injure one of our key players one year too?

New ground for me. Been to Rovers for 4 times so pleased to tick off the other stadium.

I went Bristol Rovers on Easter Friday back in 2023 and was great trip weather wise and pre-match. Very much looking forward to it.

Cricket ground?  Surely you mean rugby?
A bit of a trot from Temple Meads, as is Bashton Gate tbf.
The Memorial Ground has a lot of character imo, and a terrific club house directly behind the home end goal.

Dominic Blizzard finished Grant Basey's career there.
I saw Basey at a Cray Wanderers game years later, a very nice fella actually, I asked him if the fella apologised and he said no.  A s*** stain of a person methinks.

Yes, that Muscat wannabe who basically ended Basey's career.

Bristol is a nice, modern city these days with great nightlife. It's one of my favourite cities in England.

Iwelumo's winner late on in a midweek game a while ago is a big memory for me. Andy Reid was fantastic that evening.
