I wonder how much longer he gives it tbh, same with Martin Brundle. Seems to be quite pick and choose with what races he does and Harry Benjamin is a good replacement, less keen on Karun on co-comms.

I think they will have to actually build a car that someone other than Verstappen can drive, they seem to have driven into their own cul-de-sac and haven't got Adrian Newey to help them.
I think they've got no choice but to do that. You can't have a car that's so on edge that only one driver can harness it. Max will have to learn to actually play the team game for once.
or more likely leave. Bet he wont get a car so tailored just for him though.

Even if he leaves are Mercedes going to bend over backwards to develop a car that tailored for him and wreck Antonelli or Russell?

Maybe the Ford PU isn't looking any good and he knows he's got a midfield scrap on his hands with the new designs too.

Some people say that F1 isn't a true reflection of talent as the car plays too big a part. But I always reply how strange it is then that usually the best drivers end up in the best cars. If Verstappen left Red Bull, he would have his pick of teams. I don't like the bloke but he has a rare talent. As could be said for Hamilton in his prime.

I know some people like Hamilton and some don't but his titles were intainted. Sadly, Scumacher, great driver that he was did taint things with his ruthlessness. The same can be said of Verstappen. Verstappen can yet be the GOAT but I think, personally, he will pack it it before that happens and the title will remain Hamiltons.

Sounds like Max signing for Mercedes is definitely a strong possibility for next season. Feel for Russell as he's been excellent this season

    Where would Russell end up?

Swaps into Ferrari with Hamilton and Lewis retires?

No chance for me, reckon he ends up at Aston, Ferrari sticks with Hamilton for his contract because they can milk the merch and the sponsorship before he sails off into the sunset.

More likely Alonso hangs up his helmet than Lewis

There was also a rumour a few races ago of Horner to Ferrari, it was dismissed but I wouldn't totally rule it out if Max goes and Red Bull decide they want a fresh start

I wonder if Mercedes will go with Verstappen and Russell with Antonelli loaned out... But that would surprise me, as its a potential repeat of Hamilton and Rosberg

Just find the whole thing highly embarrassing from Toto. Any other team on the grid would have George signed at least until 2029 already.

Max isn't worth the baggage he brings with his dad and his management when Mercedes have spent years building this high performance no dickheads allowed environment.

Mercedes bigwigs will expect Max to do marketing work too, no running off to test GTs because you feel like it , the sponsors will want him at stuff.

Not to mention that the whole team mate relationship between Russell and Antonelli seems quite a positive thing - I know that Max and Kimi seemingly get on well at the moment, but lets see how that changes when Max isn't getting his way.

And Max won't be able to bring his babysitter GP with him after Red Bull gave him a promotion.

Don’t want to take this thread off track, so started a new one below. If anyone can offer any tips around going to the GP weekend it would be hugely appreciated, cheers

Good luck Tim Mayer in running against MBS for the FIA Presidency. Can't fault his background in F1 and wider Motorsport as an official and was sacked by MBS last year.

Just watched the George Russell segment of the Press Conference

I wont be surprised in the slightest if Mercedes are pushing for a Russell / Verstappen partnership

    Just the way he's talking

Would be great fun to watch. Not sure what they do with Kimi he still looks pretty raw which will only be exposed more if they have a title winning car next year

Loan him out elsewhere, Aston Martin if Alonso goes?

Alpine could be a serious option too...

Neither Doohan / Colapinto have impressed, and they're about to start using Mercedes Power Units from next season.

It'll be the knock on effect created by Verstappen leaving Red Bull that'll be interesting, cant see Lindblad going straight in to the senior team, so will Hadjar be promoted alongside Tsunoda, or will they go elsewhere like Sainz, which would equally open up a slot at Williams for Browning maybe?

If Sainz did move from Williams... with one of the F2 boys, or Colapinto stepping in at Williams, that's a seat that could very much be on a one year Contract, and Williams suddenly end up in prime position to offer Freddie Slater a seat for 2027.

Alpine would make the most sense with the Merc PU if they have to loan out Kimi. Red Bull I don't know what they'd do there - Hadjar doesn't want to step up yet , Lindblad isn't ready and their next interesting academy prospect is in British F4 in Fionn McLaughlin. Danny Ric has confirmed he's retired now so that door is shut.

Freddie Slater is a fascinating one , I expect him in F2 next year but it will be whoever can offer him a 2027 F1 seat that will land him.

Mercedes would be a good move for Verstappen. He needs to be managed properly not pandered to and excuses made for him. Not sure how Toto would be with his arsehole of a dad poking his nose in all the time though.

Lindblad very impressive to be closer to Max than the main drivers usually are. Hamilton looking on it this weekend.

Please anyone at Silverstone, or watching at home, give a cheer for Henry Joslyn in the F4 support race. My sons best mate from karting and sporting branding for my business Luscid this weekend.

Can't seem to find it on channel 4 but is there highlights available like they normally do?

I know they have it live but I'm out most weekends during the day and always caught up on the highlights in the evenings.

For some reason the quali highlights are on past midnight. If you can I’d record the live show, if not I would hope the live show will be on catch up by the evening and you can just skip through bits you wouldn’t normally watch
