  If the new recruits prove successful on the pitch then that has far more effect on team spirit (positively).

  Managers have to make difficult decisions and players accept that in the main - especially if previously the manager has had their full support. These are professional footballers who know the score.

  Depends what you want from the season I guess. Loyalty would get us relegated. 

  Players come and go but as a supporter you are stuck with it.  I like Mannion but I wouldn’t like to be going in to a championship season with him as Number 1. 

  If a player isn’t happy, generally he moves on. Don’t think it upsets team spirit or moral. They soon move on.

  You have to be ruthless if you want to progress . No time for sentiment. 

  AMB isn’t good enough in my opinion and will probably go out on loan and Mannion will push Thomas all the way as number one .

  On the other hand not adding to the squad leaves it stale and may make existing players feel there is no ambition.
  
  That's why good team management is more than matchday tactics or fitness

  Honestly you'd expect professional football players to know that this is what happens. It's not always easy or pleasant but ultimately that's just the way the game goes.

  It must be demoralising when chasing promotion to realise that your services may be dispensed with if you are successful.

  With regards to AMB he's not as good as Mannion so now we have two decent keepers competing for that GK spot. AMB Should probably look to move to a L1 side on loan as a minimum. 
  
  It's also a given in football that you could lose out to your own success as @thenewbie says.

  For me summer we should look to improve, which means replacing those who have left such as Small, but also improving on some our weaker regular starters with them becoming squad players.

  If the ambition is there to do better season on season then it’s inevitable that players better than what you have will be needed.

  I always find it quite amusing when people want us to strengthen our team after promotion,  but not at the expense of the existing players, when that's exactly how football works.

  If you've ever had a kickabout with mates (5-a-side, Sunday league etc.) you can love them dearly but recognise their shortcomings on the pitch.
  Amplify that by a gazillion when it comes to professional footballers hoping their team will improve it's prospects season on season.
  For the player who's position is under threat, they either take on the challenge or seek pastures new.
  Goalkeepers are a unique breed and seem to display a union mentality of togetherness & friendly rivalry.
  Highly doubt that Mannion will have been blindsided by this and hopefully he relishes the prospect of raising the bar (pun intended).

  It's a balancing act. The best players want to play with the best players so the likes of TC, Coventry, Lloyd Jones etc will expect there to be improvements around them or they will be frustrated at a lack of progress. Top players also expect to keep their place and relish a bit of competition so bringing in someone to challenge them for their place can bring out even more from them. You want your core players to remain in some capacity so the new players settle quickly into the style and you don't have 11 strangers trying to learn the system all at once - think about how long it took our team to figure out what Jones wanted them to do - and you want new players to buy into the culture that's already there rather than a new one form as a result of too much change. I think Jones will strike the right balance with it as the culture is so important to him but we'll definitely see our players fighting for their spot and some moving on when the opportunities dry up
