Wouldn't expect AMB, Taylor and Ahadme to still be here at the start of the season, and i think Asiimwe and Zach Mitchell will be loaned again unless they look outstanding in pre-season.Covered_End_Lad said:
Would leave the squad looking something like this:Covered_End_Lad said:What do we reckon left to sign then?
first choice RWB - (Potentially Offiah?)
first choice LCB/competition for Gillepshey - (Potentially Famewo?)
First choice No.8/compeition for Docherty - (Potentially Galbraith but looking unlikely)
Then probably need another LWB as cover for Edwards
And another more defensive minded CM as cover for Coventry.
Potentially another striker option if we do let Kanu/Ahadme leave.GK - Kaminski / Mannion / AMBRWB - *NEW* (OFFIAH?) / AssiimweRCB - Ramsey / Z.MitchellCB - Jones / A.MitchellLCB - *NEW*(FAMEWO?) / GillepsheyLWB - Edwards / *New*DM - Coventry /*NEW*/ TaylorCM - *NEW* / Docherty / AndersonCAM - Carey / BerryST - Oloafe / Godden / *NEW*ST - Campbell / Leaburn / Ahadme
Would leave us with 17 players (if we include Dixon) ahead of any new signings. So i think we need at least 6 more minimum.
There's no way we only sign 4 more players.2 -
I'd somehow convinced myself that he was signing for us ! .. VERY surprising move, surprised as you say a Champ club didn't sign him .. shows a lot of faith in Dave Challinor's management and in Stockport's potentialstoneroses19 said:

We won’t be selling Taylor as he’s crocked but I get what you mean .Chris_from_Sidcup said:

I can see a box to box midfielder coming in to compete with or replace Docherty, and with an improvement I’d expect them to offer more creatively on the ball, but I don’t see Jones signing an out and out playmaker. He’ll want a midfielder who runs all day, press hard, wins second balls etc, but we’ll do very well if we can find and afford a player like that who’s also a genuine playmaker.golfaddick said:

Because they’d get nothing if the deal falls through?Covered_End_Lad said:

What I am encouraged by is that all of the signings seem to be chosen for a specific purpose or because of specific qualities (GL with experience, a forward who can run and press, a midfielder who scores goals etc).
It feels much more "logical" than signing players for their names or for the sake of it, like Tedic who was signed basically just because he was all we could even manage, or trying to make an artsy creative but workshy midfielder fit into Jones’s press-ageddon style.2 -
If he’s a success in the champ the profits could be huge.golfaddick said:

Seems weird, but I guess if Stockport said to them "we're not selling at £1.5m if we only get £900k (or whatever) of it, we'd rather keep him at that price.", Millwall may have had a chance of a lesser percentage of something, or bigger percent of nothing.Covered_End_Lad said:

Good business by Stockport if they managed to get away with that bluff though!0 -
Depending on which click bait you're reading 🙂Southendaddick said:Looks like Swansea might be favourites for Galbraith3 -
Tedic and fiorini I think who you're alluding too were hardly proven though there is quality to be had but I get what your saying in horses for courses just think when our sit behind the ball and harry tactics possibly start failing and we have no creativity or means to buy goals In a better league we will all start crying about why we didn't get them in I'd like a mix of both.thenewbie said:What I am encouraged by is that all of the signings seem to be chosen for a specific purpose or because of specific qualities (GL with experience, a forward who can run and press, a midfielder who scores goals etc).

What I did hear last January that Orient were interested in him. So they might come back with a bid.North Lower Neil said:
I may well be behind on this as haven't had a chance to read the whole thread etc, but if we're potentially after both Burke and Famewo then I can't see Alex Mitchell staying - presume we'd look to sell to a L1 club.Covered_End_Lad said:

Can't see him wanting to be effectively 6th choice CB for 3 places, and think L1 is probably his level anyway.0 -
Has there been any official link to Burke? Pretty sure it came from a fan saying they liked him0
-
Cause if Tanto has a 15-20 goal season in the championship his value goes from 1.5 million to 10 million at least.
Not a bad idea by Millwall5 -

We need 2 more "strikers" seeing as we really only have Godden & Leaburn (the latter being out injured for the last third of the season). And I see Tanto as more of a TC type of player......more of a wide player who can cut in & score than an out & out striker.
Bit like Henry then? That'll do for me

Cawley said we were only looking to bring in 7 signings, so probably going to bring in a RCB/RWB (depending where Ramsay plays) a LCB, LWB and a CM/CAM on top of Kaminski Oloafe and Carey and that will be our business done would like another forward but not a necessity Oloafe, TC, Godden, Leaburn and then Ahadme/Mbick for emergency cover should be enough. Preston fans seem convinced they’ve won the race for Offiah as wellCovered_End_Lad said:

Cawley speculated that it would be around 7 players. There was nothing definite about it.

Don't think Cawley speculates on anything, his input is usually well thought through and constructive, if he said 7 that would have been based on information received in good faith...mcgrandall said:Crispywood said:

Strikers are only as good as the quality of service provided for them.Todds_right_hook said:
I don’t think he is as bad as you make out but at the same time, I can’t see the hype. 21 goals last year but only 18 L1 goals in 4 seasons before. I definitely think it’s a gamble for championship clubs to be after him but you are only as good as your last season where his stats were impressiveSam_777 said:Can i just say, having seen him play about 8/9 times last season, Charlie Kelman is a shit FOOTBALLER, clearly good at putting the ball in the net, but offers next to nothing in the build up, can’t pass, doesn’t hold it up, is purely a long ball chaser and that’s where his bread’s buttered, fair play to him. But he found his level & severely lacks any technical ability to progress any higher imo.
And even then, they won't score from each and every chance.
Decent striker average: convert 1-in-3 chances.

It was on his Substack pod and it was definitely a speculative chat between him and Louis on what the summer business might look like.eastterrace6168 said:

No doubt Rich is ahead on most things, doesn't make everything he says gospel.1 -
I dunno did you ever see R9 play he could pick the ball up from anywhere and terrorise a defence.Oggy Red said:

FLW have said Stockport will get 40% of any profit we make, that sounds like Millwall wouldn’t get anything, despite it originally being suggested when he moved to Stockport they’d get a % of profit on his next two moves.Braziliance said:Cause if Tanto has a 15-20 goal season in the championship his value goes from 1.5 million to 10 million at least.
