Benton’s Galbraith, Burke and Offiah are the only other two names with any substance behind them I think

Living in Cornwall, I dream of 1 hour journeys from Cornwall to a major airport.

    #London Gatwick ........ Cornwall's local international airport   :(

Was good when Plymouth had an airport
Did Plymouth airport hire Wayne Rooney to run it?

Jones strikes me as the sort of bloke who would immediately close the book on it if Galbraith said he preferred Swansea.
Which is the right way to operate.
That would be a terrible mindset though and a bit hypocritical of Jones considering he has shown 'ambition' in the past by leaving Luton, twice. Not having a pop at our manager, it's just everyone in football thinks like this.

Let's have it right, most footballers don't dream of playing for Charlton, they dream of becoming professional and making it to the Premier League.

"Don't cut off your nose to spite your face" comes to mind.

As a fan I have higher ambitions of players playing for Charlton than Galbraith, but a player like him might help boost us to the next level.

That should be the mindset, as long as they put in the effort, I genuinely don't care if a player has other ambitions, so do we as fans.
My point is nothing to do with ‘dreaming’ of playing for Charlton. It’s that Jones wants players who totally buy into the project from the start. Not someone who dithers about signing up because there might be a better offer elsewhere. I applaud that.

The way I'd look at this squad currently with the gaps we've got in terms of what could be done in terms of ins

RWB x2 (loan out Assimwe, cover can always be Ramsay in a pinch, I don't want to see TC playing wingback ever!) would love Offiah , wouldn't be surprised if the cover was a utility player who could cover 2-3 positions

CBx2 , 1 left footer to push Gilly , 1 cover for Jones (don't mind the Burke idea here if the fee is reasonable)

LWB X1 - Edwards needs cover/competition, as much as I back him to make the step up with ease

CDM X1 - Coventry needs cover , could be one to find an experienced free agent.

CM X1 - nothing against Doc but we need competition in there , would like someone that's a bit better on the ball than Doc. Doc is still gonna have a big role to play. Potentially a high end PL loan?

AM - luxury signing if the right player became available. Not entirely convinced it will happen and it might be Carey/Berry competing there

ST - x1??? Tanto and TC seem to be competing for the same kind of role , think Tanto away from home with his physicality will be very useful when we're not going to have a lot of the ball. Not really sure what to do about where Leaburn fits in until we know fitness wise where he's at. Would sign another poacher that can learn off Godden who will still have a big role to play even if he's not starting every week.

Ahadme can go , Kanu, Casey (think this was mentioned on the U21s thread it was agreed before the end of the season )and Mbick on loan . Dixon is a complete wildcard that I'd give preseason to and see what's what with his development.

Don't you just love playing Football Manager?  :)

Not that I want to derail this thread but you do know Cornwall does have an airport? just outside of Newquay which actually takes about 1 hour to get to Gatwick?

40% sell on sounds very high, surprised we agreed to that during negotiation. Certainly a lot higher than a standard sell on clause.
From what I can only assume is that it’s 40% off the sell on fee that Stockport receive. We could have given 20% sell on fee and then Millwall will get 40% of that fee?
So, if we’ve paid £1.5m and we sell him on for £2m the profit to us would be £500k, making Stockport’s 20% (?) worth £100k and Millwall’s 40% a princely sum of £40k. Yep, can see why the Spanner’s gave up 40% of Stockport’s £1.35m (?) profit….
But what if we sell him for £10m then it’s not a bad deal.

as an established championship club, the £600k is small change and it’s easy money at low risk for them if we sell him on for big money in the future
He’s a 25 year old who scored 8 goals at L1 level last season. That’s not to say I don’t think he’s a decent signing for you. But I don’t think he’ll be going for anywhere near 10 million any time soon. Or ever.
    Mate, don't underestimate Tanto.
    He's the new Darren Bent,

    Or maybe, Kevin Lisbie  :p

It's a sod to get to, except if you live in or near Newquay.

Not exactly an International Airport, is it?  :p

Swans seal deal for Orient's Galbraith

Latest from Sky Sports News' Anthony Joseph:

Swansea City have agreed a £1.5m deal to sign Leyton Orient central midfielder Ethan Galbraith.

It’s understood the Northern Ireland international has also agreed personal terms with the Championship club.

Galbraith, 24, scored six goals and provided eight assists in all competition for Orient last season.

If that's annoyed us the Hudds owner will be fuming, particularly if their rumoured offer was true
  • Don't know his name, but the number 3 in red looks decent.   Worth a punt I reckon.

Great if you want a cheap package tour holiday to a few rat-trap tourist traps.
But you can't really go anywhere else.

It'll still take you 3 hours to get to, from much of Cornwall :)

Nope. Hopeless. I need to travel several times a year to Marseille, 2nd city of France.

    As I said, hopeless  :p

Very disappointing if he signs there. Going for a very fair/cheap price and improves us. Can't say we weren't interested either as we bid
Unless I missed it that FLW doesn’t mention price other than our bid and the Hudds one at £2.5m which I’d say is the upper limit of what he’s worth I think
Worth every penny, he's class and Jones must want him. I think he would fit like a glove here, just have a feeling. He just offers something we lack similar to Tanto, that's invaluable.

Very disappointing if he signs there. Going for a very fair/cheap price and improves us. Can't say we weren't interested either as we bid

I think it’s more the fact Galbraith thinks he can do better than us
To be fair, we don't know that. The fact he signed for Orient in the first place and has consistently played shows he probably doesn't have an attitude.

I would say it's more so Swansea have a bit more breathing room than us and have upped their offer.

If that is the case, I'd like to see us match them at least. It would be very difficult to find a player with his qualities that can also play about 4 different roles and only being 24. Players like this are proper upgrades and affordable. Would be nice to see.
Article has zero mention of Swansea upping their offer. It's just a fluff piece put out by a party with a motive to drive a bidding war.
It is speculation. Jay speculated it is the players attitude towards us why he may not sign, I have then speculated if he does go to Swansea, it will be probably be a financial issue or decision as we have shown confirmed interest.

I listen to FLW a bit more considering they have had a few scoops this window.
Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

It is a rubbish click bait site.
It WAS a rubbish click bait site but this summer they have been getting a lot of exclusives right.

Got to give them credit where it’s due rather than being ignorant.

Will you give them credit if Galbraith ends up at Swansea?
Credit due to FLW again … on the money with Galbraith to Swansea and also broke Kanu to Wimbledon before Rich Cawley - want to hear the respect from Henry as loud as the disrespect

My source at Charlton says the club is expecting a big season from Gassan and they rested him pretty much after his FA Cup heroics at Southend to save him for the Championship.
Heard the same thing from a very reliable source. The big worry is that a fellow Championship team will come in with a multi million pound bid for him. After the success they had with Bonne it could be QPR?
