Its probably a pipe dream but I can see JRS coming to Charlton being in the interests of all 3 parties if the loan or permanent signing is structured the right way.
Someone said Jayden Fevrier and he would be a good option for that attacking RWB with the luxury of Kayne. He looked very dangerous in the play-offs, has played with Tanto, he's very athletic and fits what Nathan Jones likes, pace and power in abundance, only 22 as well, could become a very good player with his background (West Ham academy)
I don't want us to sign the whole Stockport squad, but they have very good players and they were just as ready for promotion as we were imo, just wasn’t their time and there could only be one.
Not particularly excited about this one. It adds depth to the squad, which is useful, but I worry Bell might be on a downward trajectory based on last season’s performances. That said, a change of environment and reuniting with the manager who previously got the best out of him could help spark a revival.
Let’s just hope the Luton recruitment phase is behind us now.
Kudos RedRobo, bang on the money!
He only cover …. It’s a squad game we need back up players as well as first team ones
Yes, I acknowledged he was brought in as cover, what’s your point? Classic Mr Idiot.
What’s the point of posting a message like that.
You made a perfectly good assumption of your thoughts and Ronnie replied with a perfectly good answer.
Hi all - been a while since I logged in, and just seen there is another John Fitzpatrick. Very exciting stuff. Hello other John Fitzpatrick. 👋
What position does he play?
I can’t speak on behalf of the other John Fitzpatrick, but I was a 6ft5 centre half who couldn’t head the ball. Think Ryan Innis, but with the tenacity of Alex Gilbey, the pace of 1998/99 John Barnes and the footballing ability of El Khalej. To be fair to me, I wouldn’t have looked out of place in Mikey Apples’ Charlton team.
With the troubles at Sheffield Wed and Hull it makes you appreciate having a stable ownership model and be in a position to sign / be linked with decent players.

The championship play-off final in 2016. Both clubs have featured in League 1 after then, and both looking likely to have a poor season or potentially a few years as clubs.
When you've got Ramsey cleaning up behind you, you can afford to have a very attacking RWB. I think we need someone who can get forward and create chances, otherwise I can see us struggling to get out of our own half at times.
TC and Small were our only attacking threats last season and we've lost one of them. An attacking RWB is a must.

Fevrier would be an incredible signing perfect signing for the rwb in our 352 4231 hybrid has a very good engine pace power very good at beating his man and lots of potential would be the perfect small replacement with better end product. He’s got the same amount of assists one more goal in 15 less games.

Attacking threats yes .. but final ball especially Small no that is what needs to be improved this season if we are going you stay up
That wally of a chairman at P'Boro spouting again.
Sounds like a weird lie to be fair. I don't think he would make that up for no reason.
That's now the 2nd player we have been quite publicly linked with that we didn't up our bid for.
I know people will say "sounds like the club aren't letting themselves be mugged off" etc but these players cost money. For the sake of 300-500k twice to lose out on a desired target, it just isn't worth it, unless you can find someone of better quality for cheaper.
It's ok to say we are on a tight budget, which if 5-10m is true, that makes it the very lower end of champ. It might be that our budget heavily leaned towards Goalkeeper and a forward as those are two positions we definitely needed a player.
Just don't get why it seems we have this view now of "looks like we didn't want to pay then rather than we couldn't" when most signs point towards us just having a low but competitive championship budget. We are going to miss out on players if that's the case, and that is part of football.
Think it’s more the point we think a certain player is worth x amount and won’t pay over the odds. If you take what DMac says as being true where are all the other Championship sides queuing up for Mothersille if you believe he’s that good and available at a fair price? The lack of other interest suggests Championship clubs thinks he’s either not that good or they can do better elsewhere. You do seem fixated in seeing the negative in everything.
We simply cannot be compared to about 18-20 Championship sides as they have better squads, and proven championship players with bigger budgets. They aren't in a rebuild state like we are. Their targets will be completely different.
Malik did have Championship offers, QPR heavily linked (assume Poku signing changed their plans), if you bother to look at most other championship sides, you will realise they already have better quality. That's not to say Malik can't make the step up, it's just how good a lot of the players in this league are.
How am I fixated in being negative on everything? Was I negative about Tanto or Kaminski? I wanted us to sign Bell, we have, I'll post about that in a positive manner.
Offering 200-300k more or whatever it is is not paying over the odds, these are really low end championship transfer fees. I am highlighting the concern that when we appear to be in a transfer shootout, we are losing.
What about us beating Derby to Sonny Carey, who are already a championship side? If we were still stuck on 0 signings I'd understand your concern a little more but we appear to be recruiting well, quite early into the window. Let's hope we keep seeing quality incomings through the door over the next couple of weeks, really hoping we bring in some quality in that RWB position
Ramsey will be playing that role and a new right sided centre back will come
Maybe, but you also said Gillesphey and Mannion would keep their places, which now looks a lot less certain.
Why? Gillesphey will start v Watford , keeper position is up for grabs .. and that’s what you want
Dream on.
Even Mrs Mannion doesn't believe that.
Are you referring to his mum or his wife? If it's the later, he might be better at home with a smaller pitch!

What’s the chances we actually stick with this hybrid 352 4231 system this season. We got away with being that transitional and adaptive because we were playing the likes of burton. Not sure if we can get away with that this year considering there will probably 20 other sides with on paper a better team man to man than us. Surely we’re going to be focus on being structured hard to break down then try and nick a goal from playing direct winning a knockdown and scoring or set pieces
Squad taking shape but I definitely still see another minimum 5 and which is more than the club has been talking about. Below is all the senior players minus Leaburn, who, given his injuries I see as more of a wildcard. Three of the five (the starters) will need to be top class imo.

It was after I watched this earlier, was just looking at his style and thinking he plays very similar to Small, but looks far more physical and a bit more athletic. Think Small had great technique though and was very sound at defending.

I'd say pretty high given that if last season showed anything it's that you have to be both structured and carrying a threat in order to get anything out of games, and this was in League One. We were incredibly structured last season in our updated formation and every team worth anything at all is transitional these days. We lost matches like Crawley at home and Bristol Rovers away before we introduced width and the lopsided formation because despite being defensively well structured we couldn't get anything at all going on the ball and we invited teams to keep asking questions of our defence, which we eventually couldn't answer. No functional midfield, no patterns of play and it's basically just waiting for the opposition to score. It would be quite insane for Nathan Jones to choose to step backwards into a style of play that saw us losing to L1 relegation teams instead of leaning in to the change that brought us promotion. Given our signings so far have mostly been fast, powerful players I think he recognises that

I'll add their comparisons as spoilers for anyone interested, very similar, Small edges Jayden defensively and Jayden edges Small offensively.
Will not be cheap mate but honestly feel like if we carry on with our current system he has to be someone we bring in would be perfect small replacement and has a very high ceiling.

To be honest mate I say it’s highly likely you look at the difference in style between the first half of the season to the second it’s night and day in terms of performance and allowing our attacking players to express themselves and it also brings out the best of tyreece. If you look at a YouTube video NJ tactics by coaches voice when his Southampton side beat peps Man City team he used this exact system 352 in defensive then going forward into a 4231. So I believe it’s Nathan’s favoured system.

Looks about right to me, just question marks over NJs thinking such as whether Bell covers Edwards too, whether we signed another experienced CB or go with Z Mitchell, whether A Mitchell moves on and do we replace him, and do any other u21s such as Asiimwe take up one of those back up spots.

Is it possible that TC could be moved across to play in front of Ramsey? Or would that reduce some of TC's effectiveness?
I really don't think this is the answer. Even in League One Campbell was playing higher and often more centrally than Small. I think TC going to RWB would lessen both his effectiveness and weaken us overall as a team.

I’d keep Asiimwe as the backup wingback really, we aren’t going to sign a better one to be backup. If we signed a young rb from league 2 who had a good second half of the season to be backup to someone like Offiah (not happening I know) then we’d be happy with that so might as well use him

Time will tell but I would be surprised if TC starts many games this season I expect him to be used as an impact substitute
