  • Been away on a break, what is the position of Miles Leaburn, I understand he has incurred a Quad injury, and will not be fit till October?. Sorry if this has been discussed but the fellow has had more than his fair share of injuries, any informed dates, or is it based on the medical team evaluation  nearer the time?. For the record I have a high regard for the player.
    Where have you heard that?
Only yesterday, club posted photos of training session and Miles was there with big grin on his face.

Dr Will Abbott and his team are highly rated but they can't stop injuries occurring in a contact sport; they can help and aide recovery but they don't have magic hands !

Unfortunately as CAFC know with the likes of Wiggins, Page and especially Aneke, some players have more than their share of injuries; Miles is in this category and probably has cost him a transfer in the last two seasons to a division above league 1.
Now Miles needs some luck to become a Championship player with CAFC as any suitors will  surely be wary of a player with constant fitness issues in a pro career of 3 years. TBF he has managed  75 apps with the 23/24 season being the worst with just 13 apps after the first pre season Injury and another big injury later on.

I find it really sad as it affects the player's confidence as well as the fans in the belief that an injury prone player can get and stay fit.

Back at Olympiakos after a loan in Portugal. Definitely someone I'd consider if he was available.

Why it crossed my mind, still the best defender I've seen the last few years.

Feels unlikely now we have brought Bell in for left sided centre back. Would expect wing backs, centre mid and Striker to be what we are looking for now. Maybe another centre back but probably not a left footed one

100% agree , I'd expect RWB and CM to be the priority and a striker. CB will be an interesting one to see what we do , I think it's ultimately one of Burke/Hills in and Alex Mitchell out.

I’d much rather Brad Hills. Younger, less injury prone and will have a future sell on value.
Agree, but would also like a slice of Pye ...
Trouble is he'll only score 3.14159 on players marks.
    That's irrational.
  • Wonder if we think there’s better value out there for a RCB/RWB?

I'd like to think we could get both Burke and Hills but I would guess that's probably a step too far.
If we sold Alex Mitchell I hope we could get both.

We will need cover in central defence if we continue to employ three centre backs. Like Bell Burke is experienced whereas Hills has potential.

I'm just wondering if Hills is a loan if Norwich would have clauses about playing time that's my only thing really. Absolutely I'd sign both if we could make it work.

Luton fans seem to massively rate Burke but seems to be only good for 15-20 games a season like a CB Aneke.

I can't see it. In that scenario we'd have Jones, Gillesphey, Bell, Burke and Hills (and maybe Ramsay too) all competing for a CB role and they're all going to be on high wages considering that not all of them are even going to be on the bench most weeks. There's also potentially Z Mitchell looking at breaking through too.

It would be nice but seems improbable.

No point in selling Alex Mitchell, because you probably have to pay 2x the amount to bring someone else in just to do the same job as being cover. We bring in one more CB we have 6 which should be enough. Ideally want someone experienced and in their prime opposed to Brad Hills who has potential otherwise what on earth is Z.Mitchell doing at Charlton
  • Zach is a tricky one that I think we'll see how preseason goes , he's signed long term anyway so if we get a good loan opportunity I wonder what we would do
  • If Jones got injured I think Gillesphey would slide across to the middle and Bell would play on the left before we’d think about using Mitchell. Really don’t see Mitchell playing any significant minutes for us again and think he will definitely be moved on
  • Charlton miss out on Kyle who's the daddy Walker who has signed for Burnley for 5 million; impressed we didn't drop out until it went over 4.5 million.

We move on to our next target 💪🏻🙄
  • Where has all the chat about Hills come from? I haven't seen him actually mentioned as a potential signing at all
  • I’m thinking there isn’t anyone else in the pipeline at the moment and anyone we sign going forward is going to be quite late in the window. Still need a striker, attacking cm and to replace Small. That’s a minimum and will probably be quite difficult and perhaps expensive.

Miles Leaburn is fit and in training now.
Thanks, glad to hear it, travelling home yesterday, overlooked the posts regarding Miles, hopefully with a pre-season and a couple of goals under his belt so to speak, he will have a great season, and become the player that we hope he becomes.

  • with Gillesphey and Bell signed up, would we want or need another left sided defender in burke or hills?

I'd say another centre mid and rwb are the priorities now
