And away......

For the last time free to air on ITV this year, over to TNT next, which is rather sad.

  • Nice that Boardman has come back for a bit to mark the end of ITV coverage too
  • Is it free on TNT this year?

No  Need subscription to TNT sports I believe.
  • Going to feel weird watching the Tour now, without a Cavendish interest in the Sprint races, although to be fair, the rivalry between Pogi and Vingegaard have replaced that.

I have it on Virgin but don’t think we pay for TNT. I won’t ask in case they take it away!
  • Great to see Sam Watson in top ten but crap to see Ganna out.

All the more impressive as he was lacking team support. The manx missile used to  navigate his way through off the wheels of others though, so a useful skill when you need it.

Excuse my ignorance, but who's the main GC contender for Inneos this year! Rodriguez? Can't be Thomas. Must be his last hurah as a domestique.  Pidcock moved to a team not even in it, and no Bernal? Why?

Don't fancy their chances again. Bring back Froome 😂

It’s Rodriguez … Bernal did the Giro and not recovered sufficiently

we've not got it on Virgin. you've either lucked out or you're paying for it
  • Good showing from Onley today … and Blackmore in 8th place on GC

  • Fantastic second stage, so many riders seemingly in great form
  • Some slap down for Philipsen there. Gutting for him but throws the green jersey wide open

The only slight consolation is that he at least won Stage 1, and had yellow.

But I honestly thought he was going to have a Cavendish-esque Tour.
  • He should have had the green jersey sewn up really, interesting to see if VdP wants it or wants to stage hunt with the GC boys instead
  • Crashes everywhere wow
  • That was a tough watch at times
  • Just watched the highlights, as dont think I'll be bother watching the flat stages live this year.

That really did look a messy stage, especially the Sprint at the end, you just knew another crash was going to happen.
  • Who was it that got thrown into the barrier off that last corner?
  • Who was it that got thrown into the barrier off that last corner?
    Bryan Coquard I think.
  • Anybody on here been over to France to see it live?

  • Went over to Nice to see a team time trial about 10/12 years ago, absolutely loved it. Would recommend going to anyone it's great fun.

Was Emilien Jeanniere. Rolled in last with a bashed up face.

    I stand corrected.

I knew it wasn't Coquard as he was in blue.

  • Fantastic finish, setting up perfectly for the time trial
  • Incredible ride from Onley too to not only get back to the front group but to follow those attacks at the end
  • Some amazing racing, and crashes, sadly.

I really enjoy the Tour, and this one looks like it cannot avoid creating incidents on an almost hourly basis.

I’ve seen two stages when the tour came to England, both in Canterbury. One  began at Brighton, 1994 I think, while the second from a later tour was the end of a stage. I agree it’s definitely worth seeing though almost certainly a better atmosphere in France, I dare say. What I remember most from 1994 is the build-up to the racers appearing with a huge number of vehicles blowing their horns, blaring out music and throwing souvenirs. This seemed to go on for ages and when the cyclists finally arrive, you’ll not be surprised if I say they’re gone in a flash!

Watched the Boulogne stage on Sunday. Really good fun especially the caravan
  • I have seen every stage in the UK but have yet to experience it in France. Going to hire a camper van one year and follow it around for a week or so
