It's very brave if he does. He was out for something like 18 months wasn't he going into last summer. If he runs his contract down and got similarly injured towards the end of this season he would sit unemployed for 18 months. I know there are riches for running your contract down but it doesn't seem worth the risk for him IMO. Nest to sign with us for another year at least so protect both parties going into the season. Slightly disappointed it has not happened yet.I'll be surprised if this happens.I hope for his sake he can get his career back on track as he has the makings of having a decent career IF he can avoid injuries.ATM he probably realises his value has gone down the pan badly over the past two seasons, both for his salary expectations and our transfer sale.1 -

NJ should tell Miles to sign a new contract by third week of August or he wont be a starter (at best).
We'll have a week to sell him and get a replacement6 -

Hmmmm, on the basis we got a taker, how much do you think we would get for him?

I'm not sure how much Preston have got left in their kitty.15

Strange answer, can you elaborate?

Needs this season to be a full season both for us and for his own career.2

Been critical of Miles in the past but if he fancies it and can stay fit I think the championship suits him. Agreed he shouldn't be a starter unless he signs though.2

Looking forward to seeing how his season plays out, he's certainly good enough.1

As someone above has just said.....its make or break for him this season.1 -
The last two years have seen Miles' goals change significantly, I'd say. From 'EPL player' to 'playing career at all'. I doubt he'd get a fresh gig above League One right now. Loyalty would serve both parties well2

It’s a really tough situation for both parties imo unfortunately the last couple of seasons has cast a massive doubt over his ability to remain fit and tbh it would be a big call by the club to offer a decent new contract if he turns out to be injured most of it0
-
Lads only 21, injuries can possibly be put down to growing still. Decent first half of the season and he’ll have suitors again3

Scoham said:He’s an undoubted talent who would love to do well with Charlton as much as we’d love him to. I really hope he can have an injury free season, enjoy his football and we can all be talking this time next year about how well he’s done.14

Charlton Athletic are delighted to announce that striker Miles Leaburn has signed a new three-year contract with the club.
The highly rated 21-year-old has already scored 30 goals for the club after netting on his senior debut in July 2022.
The 6ft 7in striker scored 10 of those goals during the Addicks’ promotion-winning 2024/25 campaign, winning the EFL Young Player of the Month and the Sky Bet League One Player of the Month awards for December.
After putting pen to paper, Leaburn said: "Signing a new deal means a lot to me. I feel like I've still got a lot to give this club. I'm really excited for the new season ahead to show what I can do. I really think this club is going somewhere. Everyone has seen what the gaffer has done to the club and how he's transformed it. It's exciting to see where he's going to take it."
Manager Nathan Jones added: "We’re delighted because we believe that Miles has a big future. First and foremost he has to stay injury free, trust his body, trust himself and show the ability he has because he’s a magnificent footballer with a fantastic profile.
"While he scored some important goals last season, this will be the first time since I’ve been here that Miles gets a pre-season, so this will be a real start of the journey with him. We feel we have real unfinished business with myself and Miles together."

3 year deal is a real statement of intent from the ownership.9

Best signing by any Championship team this Summer17
-
Always seemed a no brainer for him to sign, even before his recent injury issues - What with him needing a solid base to work on his fitness it makes even more sense.2

Can we change the thread title, in case it jinxes pre season
Great news, I can see him doing well this season.8
