Managed to get to The Valley store today.

Had seen many comments about the quality not being very good - so was sceptical going to the club shop…
however, seeing them in the flesh and feeling them, the quality is very good albeit the tops feel ‘thin’ material with may contribute to people saying it’s poor quality.

Believe the kits on the shelf are the same as what the players will wear (as opposed to the whole replica vs official shirt debate in the prem) - so the material is clearly moisture wicking and ‘performance’ like.
the club badges are a few levels above what castore brought to the table - real quality badges that won’t be coming off  it he washing for at least 7 months 🤣
Sorry but I can’t see the shop shirts being same as the match worn shirts.

  • Must admit, have been wearing my new ‘camo’ goalies top today, I love it.

Ask me again at Christmas, and see if the letters have peeled off, don’t think the missus will let me wear it to bed.
Get her to put it on then 😉

Have we ever had 3 keeper kits? Only asking because a mate of mine is convinced he's seen a yellow/gold Reebok Charlton kit and he described it as being gold-ish with a black collar and trim, and originally I thought it might be the third kit but everyone's convinced that's black with gold, so I'm thinking he somehow saw a keeper kit, but we've released 2 already and neither are yellow/gold!

    • Available online from 11am on Monday, July 14th
    • Available in the club shop at The Valley and the club’s pop-up store at Bluewater from Monday, July 14th
  • Hopefully the normal away soon so we can start deciding which one to buy and hopefully 6-7 yr stock for the first time.

Castore released 3 keeper kits each season.

The normal away has been revealed hasn’t it?
Or 3rd then, its got confused as that blue kit was supposed to be the 3rd kit. Either way, release them all and more people will start buying. The drip feed, get people to buy one of each only works when people are not broke 😂

  • Has anyone bought any of the new training gear? How do the T-shirts size up
  • I've always assumed that the club is given a choice of GK shirts, and the GK wears the one which clashes least with the onfield players, or which they prefer.
  • The club can't like it that much, the only pic released only shows half the shirt!

They’ve gone a bit heavy on the PR here:

**Introducing the Bold New Charlton Athletic Goalkeeper Shirt: A Nod to History and Innovation**

Charlton Athletic is thrilled to unveil our latest goalkeeper shirt, a striking fusion of purple and intricate patterns that pays homage to the club's rich heritage while embracing a bold new future.

**Inspired by Royalty and Local Legacy**

The choice of purple is a regal nod to the historic connections of southeast London. While Charlton Athletic has always been rooted in the community, the purple hue reflects the royal heritage of nearby Eltham Palace, once a favored residence of Tudor monarchs. This royal connection symbolizes the ambition and grandeur that Charlton Athletic strives for on the pitch.

    **Patterned with History**

The unique pattern on the shirt is inspired by the intricate designs found in the historic wool trade, a significant part of London's industrial past. The wool trade once thrived along the River Thames, and the patterns are a tribute to the craftsmanship and resilience of the local workers who contributed to the city's growth. This design element subtly weaves the club's history into the fabric of the shirt, celebrating the enduring spirit of Charlton.

    **A Tribute to Innovation**

Charlton Athletic has always been a club that looks forward, embracing innovation and progress. The purple patterned shirt is a testament to this ethos, combining traditional elements with modern design to create something truly unique. It symbolizes our commitment to honoring our past while forging a path to future success.

    **Stand Out Between the Posts**

This shirt is not just a piece of sportswear; it's a statement. For our goalkeepers, it represents the pride of standing between the posts, guarding the goal with the same strength and determination that has defined Charlton Athletic throughout its history. The vibrant purple ensures that our keepers stand out, embodying the boldness and confidence that our fans expect.

**Join Us in Celebrating Our Heritage**

We invite all Charlton Athletic supporters to celebrate this exciting new chapter with us. The purple patterned goalkeeper shirt is more than just a uniform—it's a symbol of our club's enduring legacy and bright future.

Show your support and wear your colors with pride. Up the Addicks!

This is so ChatGPT. It's beyond even the usual marketing bollocks for new kits.

Last season the orange one that was worn quite frequently (at least at the women's games) was officially the third keeper's shirt, the away one being pink/purple and the home one blue.

Just say "It's pretty cool, innit?" and be done with it.
  • When I saw the home (green) goalkeeper shirt I liked it, then wavered over the central badge but decided to get it anyway.
I was looking forward to the blue and white away shirt, but didn't like the pattern much, but ordered it anyway.
I'm loving the goalie shirt, the away shirt will grow on me.
I'm pleased to say I won't be buying the new (lilac) goalkeeper shirt as I don't like the colour.
Can't wait for the third kit.

  • As soon as they have the size for my boy il make some purchases, feel bad buying mine and not one for him.
  • The purple is OK I guess, but I assumed they'd be doing a blue version of the home keepers top to go with the blue away kit

That would have been much better.

Think your GK and outfield kits can't share colours, even if the blues are very different

Tight, I’m about to take one back and size up.

Could be I’m just fatter than I think I am.

That's a shame. However, how about just inverting the away kit then to get the away keeper kit?

Looks a bit rusty, should be fine for our keeper…
  • If that light blue shirt I see in the shop at Bluewater is the away kit then it is absolute rubbish.

  • Replica 1983/86 OSCA Home Shirt on club website at the moment. I don't suppose they'll last long.
