Working from home today as I usually do. Windows open as its 30° outside & need some air.

I live in a quite road in Bromley. Only traffic we get is L drivers practicing parallel parking. Very residential.

Since 9.30 this morning there has been a car opposite with both front doors open with quite loud music playing. Foreign music. Thought at first it was Indian but now think its Eastern European. One man sitting in the passenger seat. Not seen the car or the man before.

Just been out to ask what's going on. Bloke says he's working on the house he's sitting outside of. There is a skip in the drive half full. As far as I can tell he hasnt been doing any work today. He has a couple of beer bottles with him - one he was drinking from & another in the footwell.

I knocked on the door of the house in question & an elderly man answered (I would say aged 75+). I asked if he could confirm that this man was indeed "working" on his house and whether he could hear the music. He confirmed both in the positive.

I kindly asked if he could get his "builder" to turn the music down (and sarcastically mentioned that the man seemed to be drinking rather than working as was he ok with that, seeing as it's been over 3 hours). Music was then turned off & all seemed ok for 10 mins.

Its now started back up again. So, is it me or would anyone else have a problem with music blaring out from a car all morning.
All of this pettiness could've been avoided if only you'd bitten the bullet and driven through the Blackwall Tunnel to see that client after all.
He can’t, he only goes one way

Why did you feel the need to say you thought he was Indian or Eastern European? Is noise made by people from those areas more annoying?
    Music.

    Read my opening post.

I would have the same issue if it was hip-hop, heavy rock or classical.

It was far too loud for the environment. And if everyone did it then there would be chaos.

  • Woman next door often has a male friend come round and play her organ. Not my cuppa tea but each to their own.
    HE playes HER organ?
  • Why does the comment have to be "either/or"?
How about it is (very) antisocial behaviour and you are still a grumpy sod?
  • You're coming off as a bit of a 'karen'. Ask him to turn the music down, by all means, but asking about his business there and labelling him a criminal is a bit much. Try to imagine him as non-foreign and playing some Oasis, or something else you probably like. It might help you feel less agitated.
  • It being anti social behavior and you being a grumpy sod are not mutually exclusive
  • Chill Golfie , have you tried the Chinese now that it is open very pricey but also very nice.
Too much foreign food for Golfie in there.

Her husband used to play with his organ a lot, but unfortunately he died a couple of years ago. His mate comes round now and tickles her ivories.

  • I'd fight fire with fire.  But then I've got a 1,280-watt 17 speaker system in my car.
  • Call the police - in charge of a vehicle while drinking.
  • Just remember the bloke knows where you live, that's all.
The above isn't a good example, but 101 is the nonemergency police number to avoid confrontation.
  • Call the police - in charge of a vehicle while drinking.
That’s not an offence in and of itself.
