I'd imagine Small as an U23 with us for 18 months might have generated a £300k training fee.
Cawley mentioned it being around £200k.
    Not bad
  • On a slightly different note, how do you think the fees for a transfer are moved? Do you reckon that it is someone on their banking app moving cash about?
If you are being serious I should assume it would be a CHAPS payment to and from the club’s bankers.
  • Not entirely related to us, but it sounds like JRS is going to Wolves for 10 million

For those who were hoping to get him on loan.. I don't think we can compete with that
If true that is a lot for a player who didn't set the world on fire at Sheff U.

But for a prem club I guess £10m isn't a huge amount to risk and it's a nice earner for the Glaziers.

Yep, would be a CHAPS but done online.

Just hope they can get nectar points.

Popped up on my Google news and then I saw it on a Sun article

Could be noise. The fee is a weird one, seems like a lot but the upside could be huge, hardly a big loss for Wolves.

I am genuinely interested. Not really a side of the game you hear about.
  • Appalling behaviour, I haven’t looked at this thread in over an hour and only 4 new posts!

Disgusting, some of you need to take a hard long look at yerselves!
So should you! Only looking at this thread once an hour!!

Massive waste of money if we’re signing a player because he’s good at deflating footballs…

Sounds like Aberystwyth is contemplating some sort of computerized hijack of the money. You know the old rhyme: "Taffy was a Welshman, Taffy was a  ..."

Does he contradict himself there? Bids rejected but he’s gone?
I think he’s meaning to say the structure of the deal is wrong? Could be what they’re trying to sort out. Blackpool will want a fair bit up front I would think, with the rest to be paid over instalments or incentives. For example extra 500k if we stay up. If you were a betting man you’d ask for more guaranteed cash up front I think

Think he’s saying that although the bid was rejected both sides expect to work something out. Would imagine an extra add on or something
  • Seems a high price for a league one player

Not in this day and age sadly. Burrows went for 3 mill. Galbraith went for 1.5 with a year left on his contract, Tanto 1.5. It’s what people pay now unfortunately
Not to mention a certain Ademola Lookman who we sold for a fair wedge

I wouldn't want us to go past 3 million, but he wants to come so doesn't hurt to get close to that with add ons (e.g 300k if we stay up etc)
  • Sounds like the structure of the deal needs to be worked on, rather than them rejecting point blank. The boy wants to come so Blackpool won’t want to stand in his way but will want a decent sell on and I’m guessing a fair whack up front with add ons.

Not in today's market. As well as a decent player, you're also paying for the potential. A good season at Championship level and he could easily be worth 10m+.

Look at Esse at Millwall. Started about 30 games for them, scored only 6 goals, went to Palace for 12m.
