It would cost two to three million pounds a year to run a level 1 academy, and of course upfront millions for new facilities. Is that? A good use of our limited financial resources.
The facilities are already Cat 1 standard because we bought them from Reading - which was Cat 1 at the time

It's the numbers of coaches we need to ensure is adequate.  Being in the Championship will also help now

I thought we bought the stuff from Reading for the 1st team because the academy had to be housed in a brick building for Cat1

The club website still has pictures of academy players known to have been released. As we're into July there is no excuse for this.

They also only just changed the first team squad, it's so sloppy

In fairness they haven’t officially confirmed which academy players have been released or signed new deals (if any?).

On the squad pages, they didn’t update the u18 squad all season, so that’s been out of date for the last year.

Also a problem though, contracts have expired now

The under 21 players who were to be released were told before the penultimate game.

Yeah I remember you saying that probably a few weeks ago. They would have also officially left on Monday when their contracts expired, so I’d have thought the club will confirm the full list sooner than later.

Lost 3-2 to Fulham this morning. Presumably quite a young team given so many were involved with the first team at Dartford. They mentioned on the commentary Mbick played 45 minutes against Fulham.

No. Seen elsewhere it’s an u18 team managed by Jason Pearce.

We lost 3-0 but, given that the oldest player we fielded was 17 and there were some 14 years olds involved as well, I thought we did well.

We bossed the midfield and seemed to control the game, but were a little unlucky up front and hit the post on several occasions.

AFC Whyteleafe took their chances and scored every proper on-target shot they had. The only actual save either of our keepers made was from a long range effort.

Only recognise 2 of those names, must be hugely youthful

Tagoe, Davis, Woodham, Belton, Dawkins, Valentine, Burnham and Elliott are 2nd years, so will turn 18 during the season.

Thomas, Podgorny, Peterkin, Williams, Mylona, Boje (recently signed from non-league), Richman and Muvhuti are some of the new u18 1st years, all announced signing their scholarships on Instagram - hopefully the club confirm the full list soon, it’s usually around this time of year.

Unsure on the rest, could be a few more new 1st years, with others being u15/u16s. Chetam Ezenwata is presumably the younger brother of Chizzy Ezenwata, the striker poached by Chelsea a while back who’s since been scoring for their u18s and has played for England at youth level.

Scoreline certainly didn’t reflect the performance. Charlton started brightly and should have scored early on, some good high pressing creating a few chances out of nothing. Whyteleafe settled into a rhythm and scored twice before the interval. Second half was similarly even, with Charlton threatening particularly on the counter / on transition and causing a few hairy moments with more good pressing. Whyteleafe scored a third from a corner midway through the second half.

Charlton clearly the more technically gifted team, with no 10 (Podgorny) looking a good player in the middle of the park. No 11 (Peterkin) caused a lot of problems down the flank, cutting in and shooting low a la a certain Tyreece Campbell a number of times, perhaps unlucky not to test the keeper a bit more. No 5 (Davis) also stood out to me, some driving runs from centre half and looked generally assured on the ball.

Whyteleafe played like a team used to winning, taking all the big chances they had, and the two centre backs doing the basics very well throughout. Charlton generally controlled the middle of the park, but were unlucky in front of goal. A very promising performance given the youthful team fielded.

I know it's a joke but tbf Josh Parker played a useful role in the play off win against the Mackems.

Paris Lock is Chris Lock’s son, he appeared in a game or two for our u21s part way through last season. I think he was/is with Wimbledon, looks like he’s free agent, unless he’s signed for us.

I think Max Kuczynski was on trial late last season, so he may have also signed.

I assume Ty Findley is Ty Ewans-Findley who was with Cambridge according to this.

    Got battered 5-2.
Parker scored for them from a Roddy assist.
