2 Prem Loans and 1 more Permanent.

    LWB cover for Edwards
CM option (Donley would be perfect)
    Striker (to replace Ahadme)
    1. Enslin? TC?
    2. Maybe. We have quite a lot in the position now though and I think Anderson is poised for a breakout season
    3. We have more up front than it may seem. Any striker we bring in has to be significantly better than say Mbick
If Enslin wasn't ready to start games in L1 last season, or even be on the bench- the champ is a massive jump. TC cannot play full back.
CM - We only have Cov, Berry, Docherty, Anderson, JRC, Carey. We play 3, so 2 injuries and we have 1sub. We lacked quality on the ball in the midfield last season, we bypasssed them in most games.
ST - Mbick should go on loan. Kanu and Ahadme not good enough.

    Just my opinion.
Enslin may have been seen as ready, but there was no reason to drop Edwards and no room on the bench for him. I wouldn’t be certain of a LWB coming in with Bell here and Enslin recently signed up on a long term contract.

Agree on TC, I’d only use him at WB late on in games when we need to be very attacking, as NJ occasionally did last season.

We’ve signed two CMs in JRC and Carey so I’m not convinced we’ll sign another. If we do, perhaps an older holding player to add experience and who won’t be too expensive or expect to play every game. I think another box to box or attacking midfielder is less likely as we can’t guarantee they’d even get on the bench.

I can see another striker coming in with Mbick staying, Kanu going on loan and Ahadme loaned or sold depending on what offers we get, if any.

This also depends on how NJ intends to use Apter. He’s not given anything away in the announcement.

Interesting, we're still looking for a RB then!

Just had a trawl through quite a few hamp club forums, pretty much all unanimous in agreement that were doing quite a good bit of business and under the radar ( with the exception of Wrexham who for some reason think none of our signings get in their team and it's the calibre of player they would expect to sign in league 1
Smacks of Orient fans getting ahead of themselves albeit with a bit more justification.

Interesting he’s a RB/RWB, so maybe Apter’s seen as a 10 or striker who can drift wide like TC.
It's mental we are being linked and signing soo many players no one is really sure where they are all going to play it's refreshing tbh even our second eleven at this rate would do well In league one I reckon : )  keep them coming I say.

  • There seems to be a narrative about Bell that he can’t play wing back anymore because his legs have gone. Just looking at Luton’s end to the season where they had a pretty good run, and Bell was starting games at both LCB and LWB so I definitely think he can be cover there. JRC could do a job there as an emergency backup or Asiimwe if he’s kept around
  • Potential to me that we see a very different make up to the back 5. If we signed Lewis that would mean we have 3 players we see as playing RCB and I doubt either Lewis or Burke will want to be back ups (injury permitting). We’re all assuming Lloyd Jones stays in the middle of the back 3 but what if he doesn’t? What if Burke plays in the centre, Lewis RCB and Ramsay RWB?

I find their fans totally bizarre. I feel for the ones that were around before Rob and Ryan turned up but the bandwagon jumpers I have zero time for.

How can they seriously turn around and say none of our signings would start for them unless they are massively deluded.

He can play RCB as well. I still think Apter will play that Small role, but maybe Miller would allow Asiimwe to go out on loan and be a more defensive RWB option and cover at RCB

In fact, looking at all his recent games for Hibs he’s been playing at RCB in a 3

    Sounds like a Ramsay replacement.

I think Ramsay will be used as a right wing back/ right back this season. I know he's good at right centre back, but he's also very good on the flanks.

He literally glides, is decisive, quick, can take a player on, finds pockets of space, very rarely loses a duel, would allow our wide players to have more freedom on that side.

I've always thought we should be aiming for a centre back and playing Ramsay at right back.
Ramsay is way better at RCB than he is at wing back. More importantly our team is way better with him at RCB than at wing back. I can’t see him being moved

I would agree, Kayne would suit RWB in the champ as he’s technically very good and will be a strong option with less possession.

A very nice headache to have if it happens, but I honestly think there is a 0% chance of Lloydy not starting. He's fantastic and he's Nathan Jones' man.

This isn’t me saying he should be dropped of course but Burke is also 100% NJ’s man and has played the division up and has rave reviews. Like you say, what a fantastic headache to have. Last time we went up we lost 2 of our back 4 including a talismanic CB, this time we’ve only lost Small and have made fantastic signings

  • Wing backs need way more attacking output than Ramsay offers. He was brilliant defensively and in possession playing there in league 1 but the team didn’t have anywhere near enough threat.

At RCB he can still be brilliant defensively and in possession, he’s also a brilliant recovery defender which you don’t get with him further forward.

Right back in a back 4 is probably Ramsay’s best role but in a 3-5-2 he’s much better as the RCB than as the wing back. If we are playing Ipswich/Southampton etc then I could see him going to wing back for us being very defensive. Unless we are going to 3-4-3 and he has Apter in front of him then I can’t see him moving to wing back as a good move for us

I just think that’s way too defensive. Not enough threat out wide or up top. Home to Watford is a game we should be trying to win, save that kind of line up for Ipswich away
