Wing backs need way more attacking output than Ramsay offers. He was brilliant defensively and in possession playing there in league 1 but the team didn’t have anywhere near enough threat.
At RCB he can still be brilliant defensively and in possession, he’s also a brilliant recovery defender which you don’t get with him further forward.
Right back in a back 4 is probably Ramsay’s best role but in a 3-5-2 he’s much better as the RCB than as the wing back. If we are playing Ipswich/Southampton etc then I could see him going to wing back for us being very defensive. Unless we are going to 3-4-3 and he has Apter in front of him then I can’t see him moving to wing back as a good move for us
If we are playing a 3421/343 I don't think we do. He will give Apter/TC/Carey/Tanto etc the freedom they may need, especially Apter.
I also think I must watch a different version of Ramsay sometimes, he is absolutely fantastic at getting forwards, he makes it look effortless.
As long as he can keep our right side safe and carry the ball out to give it to our attacking players, he will be fine.
I suspect you'd have been happy for us to sign Offiah to play right wing back instead? But if you look at Ramsay's stats compared to Offiah, they're practically identical.
Ramsay will be absolutely fine playing out wide if that is the plan, I would have 100% confidence in him.
We have 3 who can play there though in Ramsay, JRC & Apter. The fact we're after another suggests either someone is moving on or we have other plans for all the above players (or perhaps we want Ramsay out there and feel we need a replacement). Big change to the last few years when we went into multiple seasons without a single recognised senior LB.

Offiah would be the same dilemma, in a 3-5-2 his best role would be RCB rather than RWB. I said that when we were linked they are very similar players
Ramsay would be fine anywhere because he’s class, but it’s about what’s best for the team. As I said if we are playing a 3-4-3 then it would be fine, as we would have Apter in front of him so we would have the threat from that side. Ramsay is fantastic at carrying the ball forwards but at wing back you need more in the final third than he offers at the moment if it’s a 3-5-2 with him and Edwards wing backs I don’t think that’s enough final third threat, it wasn’t enough in league 1 let alone the championship
Miller thing is a bit odd to me. I wonder if perhaps we’ve had an enquiry for Ramsay and are now actively looking for a quality replacement. If there’s any truth in our bid I just don’t see where he fits in to what is increasingly looking like an overloaded or at least well stocked defence. Can’t see any other reason other than Ramsay replacement for the interest or bid.

Yes we have more income in the Championship, and yes we clearly need to spend more to survive, but this does feel like quite a change in strategy by the owners, even from January when we just brought in two squad filling loan players, rather than "statement " signings.
I'm delighted we have made so many what on paper at least look very good signings. Can't say I'm surprised though because NJ would not have signed a long-term contract unless he was promised these sort of signings. Things starting to look very promising at long last.

We are so damaged that our fans have forgot what it feels like to have squad depth.
We have no right back other than Ramsay (unless you count Asiimwe), no right wing back, one left back, 2 if you count Bell.
Edwards, Bell, Gillesphey, Jones, Burke, Mitchell (s) and Ramsay, to cover 5 defensive slots. One more is normal squad numbers when you consider injuries and 46 games.
I would more lean towards one of the Mitchell's going out on loan than selling Ramsay.
Having this many options is very normal and how proper clubs are run, competition for spots and squad depth.

We’ve just spent our biggest fee in a decade on Apter, so he’s definitely going to be in the team on the right as that’s his best position. So he’s either going to replace Small in that role or we are going to play 3-4-3/3-4-2-1 and he will play with Ramsay behind him

Most promising comments I've seen so far:
Hibs did finish 3rd tbf and are typically a decent side. Either way, in Jones we trust.
Perhaps the player has indicated that he wants to try his luck in England and doesn't want to stay?
Hibs will know they'd get a much reduced fee in January, so maybe they'll cash in now if they can get the right replacement?
