Miller would only make sense if Ramsay was going to play wingback and Burke projected starter at rcb but wanting cover due to Burkes injury record. Also means Apter unlikely to play wingback but rather a different role.  If he signs,  that neither of the Mitchell boys are in the first team plans
Or if Ramsay or Jones is going.

    Hush your mouth 🤐 Tinky-Winky
Jones won't go,he has no sell on price for another club
some clubs don't care about selling on and look for what it will give them in progress terms, but we would be fools to sell anyway and no idea why it's even been brought up tbh (not saying by you just in general) I think the owners ain't that short sighted.

Looking at who Sheffield Wednesday have left, and Pierce Charles is a very promising keeper aged 19.  Suspect we are well enough stocked in the keeper department though.  Are Max Low or Yan Valery any good?

If we want a young ex Chelsea striker then, as I've said before, I'd try Donnell McNeilly.  Looks like massive upside in him.
    Charles is a Southampton player!
    That's his brother Shea.
    Of course, der!
  • Some of our old players getting fixed up Conor Washington joined Matlock Town and Matt Penny joined Aldershot

Not that I'm complaining but there's been a distinct lack of (publicised) interest in many of our players. I would have thought that the likes of Campbell, L. Jones etc might have been attracting a few speculative bids from other clubs honestly.

We do seem to be widely viewed as the most vulnerable of the promoted sides (correctly or otherwise) and I'm surprised we haven't had a few "bigger" sides trying to muscle in - or maybe we have and they have been told precisely where they can shove it.
We have a number of players who are unproven at this level. A good season in the Championship and their values will rocket, and more established clubs will be targeting them more.
Or maybe for the first time ever we have owners that are willing to commit funds to securing our players to long term contracts and are not willing to sell if the player benefits the club so any approach is met with a flat NO ! I appreciate that would be a massive shift change but that’s where I think we are at
    All players have a price.

My point being that the value of the likes of Ramsay and Jones will rocket if they can prove themselves at a higher level. Until that happens,  it's easy to reject any offers.

We've already benefited with Ramsay, as we took a punt on a promising L2 player,  who's already worth a lot more after an excellent season in L1

Conor will be just happy being fit to play after a no show for Derby last season.

Matt had a poor 5 games for CAFC on loan after his video showed him as a good attacking full back. Now he has fallen into the National league at 27 I hope he plays well as it would be sad to see the Penney drop again !

Surprised he's turned up at Aldershot, as both his previous National League spells (Rochdale, Altrincham) have been very disappointed with just a handful of appearances - Must be a bit of a troubled young man there, as your career surely doesn't just go off a cliff like that, not at that age. Especially after playing as many games as he did for Sheff Wed, Ipswich even Motherwell.
  • Anyone reckon Karoy Anderson will make the step up to the Championship?
  • Anyone reckon Karoy Anderson will make the step up to the Championship?
I think he has a decent chance yes. He has the physicality and not lacking in confidence which can take you a long way. The youngster I’m most concerned about is TC whenever he knows he has the beating of the player marking him he looks fantastic but likewise he seems to give up a bit if he doesn’t

Don't know but I think he has a good chance. Very strong athlete and a better footballer than some on here give him credit for. He is still young and improving fast.
  • Anyone reckon Karoy Anderson will make the step up to the Championship?
Squad player .. sub coming on last 20 mins not a starter in the championship may be in cup comps
  • Anyone reckon Karoy Anderson will make the step up to the Championship?
Yes, but opportunities will be limited...
  • Anyone reckon Karoy Anderson will make the step up to the Championship?
For me no doubt about it.He is improving all the time, has a great engine ,just needs a little more composure on the ball.In the championship, there will be games when we wont have a lot of the ball,Karoy will be the one to harass the opposition and break up their attacks,i am sure he will be a vital member of our squad.
  • Karoy will be on the bench week in and week out and get plenty of minutes. Of that I have no doubt. He’s probably dropped down the pecking order a bit because of our Championship status and recruitment but he’ll be an important part of the first team squad and will improve greatly this term.

Not under NJ they won’t, he’ll get at least 35 appearances if no injury problems

Appearances yes, starts maybe not so many is what I meant, but I really rate Karoy, and think he will do good for us given the chances...

  • As I think someone else has said, Karoy is fantastic out of possession but less so with the ball. I thought he was great in the last dozen or so games mainly as a sub

Where has all the Burstow stuff come from?
Someone said they heard a rumour we were looking to sign him.
À rumour on a rumour thread?
    Surely not.

I'd expect a 45/45 split again , will be interesting to see if we see Apter at all or if he's behind fitness wise. Not sure about Godden or Berry obviously they're out there but they seem to be doing their own thing.
What’s that? A tandem bike ride to Croatia? Is Croatia like a Coventry to Slovenians?

I didn’t read about some of our new players on here. I didn’t know until I got a notification from cafc, by which time it was all Second Hand News for you lot.

If Burstow is cheap & isn't a looking to be an instant impact signing for us, I think most of us would be ok with that, as there is talent there somewhere, and he's still young.

If it blocks the way of a more consistent player then I wouldn't want us to get him.

    Either way, Jones knows best.
We have plenty of our own talented strikers to develop. Why take a punt on one who's left and failed elsewhere?
    Has he failed ?

That's my train of thought if we signed him.

I think loads of our players need a loan or moving on as is but I'm not in control of that.

If we loan our other younger strikers out, and had Burstow as our younger wildcard option on the bench with his championship experience I don't think it would be too terrible is all.
