I would love us to bring someone like Kelman to bring that similar style of play to Godden. If some of our final business is a Knibbs type, Kelman and another left sided wing player, I would be happy!
If we brought in Kelman and Knibbs I’d be over the mood and would be a fantastic window.
Anyone reckon Karoy Anderson will make the step up to the Championship?
Good engine, but his passing, shooting and crossing is woeful by League One standards. I can't see him playing beyond a bit part this season. He gets a free pass from most Charlton cronies as he's a youth product.

That seems harsh. I think he has flashes of looking very good technically and at the age of 20 could conceivably get more consistent. Jones rates him which says a lot.
Not sure yet about Karoy Anderson. I wouldn’t write him off and I think NJ likes the younger players as they can be moulded around the attitude and desire he wants from his team. I think Anderson could be a good option from the bench when we’re protecting leads. We sucked up quite a bit of possession in the Orient game and after 70 mins it was clear Jones wanted us to see out the lead, Anderson came on to help do just that
obviously we’re a level above Orient now, so it will be harder, but our summer signings and Jones’ approach mean that I think a lot of our games may pan out similar to the play off final if we get ahead. I think we’re going to make ourselves as hard to beat as possible, hope that the likes of Apter and TC can create a bit of magic and Nick games by the odd goal
too early to say exactly, but if I had to bet on our style of play, I’d say we’re not going to get as much entertainment this year, and be very focused on shutting teams out as best we can

He does a job for Nathan when it’s needed and that’s to get stuck in, fill gaps as they pop up and make a nuisance of himself to disrupt the opposition. That often tends to restrict the opportunities for niceties and refined play. I suspect he will fit in quite nicely in the Championship and get even more game time this season.
A lot of players with a high end work ethic and some underlying talent thrive the more years they play and when managed correctly. Johnny Robinson perhaps is a good example of this. I think Anderson is absolutely in this mould and will get stronger and better the more game he plays. He is young and will have off games, every player does, but in general he has all the ingredients necessary to step up to higher levels and potentially land us a windfall in due course.
NJ will help him thrive, us fans need to remain behind him come the better or worse games he has.

If we brought in those two, I would watch out for flyin' pigs, because you were probably about to wake up...just my opinion...😉

Fair enough if you consider a 73% passing accuracy to be woeful, high standards indeed!

73% passing accuracy puts Karoy Anderson in the bottom 1/4 of all L1 midfielders last season and it’s not even like he’s this creative midfielder who tries risky forward passes. Off the ball he’s incredible on it he’s useless. Put him in the right game situation he works and will do a job this season but he’s got nowhere near the technical ability to be a consistent regular this season

I don’t think your last statement is true - I think young players are often treated more harshly . Anderson lacks technical quality but makes up for it in other areas and he had 2 fantastic cameos in the second semi and at Wembley . A starter, ideally not yet , but he has a part to play.
I think Anderson is more than adequate in the deeper midfield role as he has great physical attributes. Where I hate seeing him play is in the more advanced role as I don't think he has enough quality on the ball to impact the game from there.

This isn’t true. Listening to fans around me at matches he’s a scapegoat more than anything.
Against Exeter Anderson put in the most dominant performance I saw by any Charlton player last season. Sure he's inconsistent but he's also been unlucky with injuries and suspensions as well as being up against the club captain for his best position which have all held him back. With a run of games I think he'll suprise a lot of people next year.
Let’s be honest here. If Anderson was a top creative passer of the ball added to his undoubted engine, athleticism and age he’d have been long gone onto bigger and better things. He’s young and better technical skills can be taught and NJ is without doubt a good manager to improve him. I think some the posts about him are very unfair and harsh. Luckily I believe Jones likes Anderson and he’ll feature a lot more than some think. Probably from the bench this season but he’ll get plenty of game time.
Anderson will have a big role to play , I doubt he starts every week but he'll come on around the hour mark with his energy and pressing.
Can see him starting away games where we sacrifice the attacking midfielder for just being solid and hard to break down. The type of games we'll have 20% possession and home side camped in our half for 90 mins but we might nick it on the break.

I’m rather hoping for better than 20% possession. We have that too often and we’ll lose a lot more than we win.

He's very effective in the advanced role, as a presser. Giving opposition defenders no time on the ball, and winning it back in dangerous places.
Ironically his biggest weakness is opponents doing the same to him, as he gets caught on the ball too often. Partially it's down to inexperience, but his first touch isn't perhaps the greatest either.

Yeah I'm not expecting 20% to be the norm but I think we'll go to places like Ipswich, Leicester, Southampton,Norwich and be under the cosh to that level.
Rest of the league away from home I'd hope would be more like 30-40%
