MrLargo said:kafka said:Good luck with your claim. These bikes thrown everywhere are polluting our towns and are hazardous. It's not dissimilar to fly tipping. They should be made to take a chunky deposit or card guarantee so that unless they are returned to a proper parking point, the deposit is lost? Maybe they do this already but it clearly isn't working. Fine the companies involved until they manage this properly.0

Fumbluff said:Lime give you nothing for free, it’s Human Forest (or some name like that) that show the first 10-minutes free but they still charge an on hire or off hire fee so there is no free trip just a discounted first trip if you will.As an infrequent lime user I’d offer the following musings.
To visit the Valley, I come into North Greenwich so yes I could walk if it’s a nice day but invariably I wouldn’t have the time so a bus each way is £1.75 and well it’s a bus….
If you just hopped on a Lime and started a trip it’d probably be between £6-9 each way depending on how fast you cycle and how lucky you get with all the poxy traffic lights (as an aside these operators should, I believe, be forced to switch to a distance charging model rather than time charging as this is what causes the dangerous “rush” mentality and not waiting at lights etc.) but you can get pre-pay £3.99 Lime passes that cover you for 30-minutes which is comfortably enough time for both trips (the 30-minutes have to be used in a 24-hr period) so I generally take the 49p hike to avoid being squashed in with other grebby humans on buses and to convince myself that even though it’s an e-bike it may just about give me back the calories I’m going to use for maybe half of my first badly poured pint….

Cheaper than lime bikes and you get out of the rain for a while.0 -

Few getting 'parked' in Beckenham lately always lying flat in the middle of the pavement. Although had one twat riding up the middle of the pavement yesterday.0

And if you cycled along the river from North Greenwich I don’t believe you would need to stop and a far nicer way to cycle to Charlton.1

Was that not in relation to your journey to Charlton from North Greenwich?0 -
I think it’s fairly clear that this was my estimate based upon their non “lime pass” rates.
Look up the cost for yourself if you require a cast iron quotation ffs.
I’ll not try to offer helpful answers to questions in the future now to avoid further challenges from the hard of thinking0 -
I also took it you meant up to £9 for the journey fumbluff but glad you have clarified. When I used lime a year or two ago it was 29p a minute. So i'd have wanted to do a trip like north Greenwich to charlton in 5 minutes to get better value than the bus. And on that note I agree with your other point that it would be dangerous rushing to save a few pence and should be distance based charging rather time based.
I think when I was a Lime user it was 29p a minute when I was paying a monthly pass of around £8 which just covered the 'unlock fee'. Memory fades... my feet are better now so walking more in case anyone interested.

I read the whole of Fumbluff's post where he said -
"but you can get pre-pay £3.99 Lime passes that cover you for 30-minutes which is comfortably enough time for both trips (the 30-minutes have to be used in a 24-hr period) so I generally take the 49p hike to avoid being squashed in with other grebby humans on buses."
It's clear to me that he pays £3.99 as he can go from North Greenwich to Charlton and then back after the game in 30 mins.0 -

You see fewer of them dumped around

I had no idea they were as expensive as described above. In my head I just thought they were a cheap option relative to a bus / tube.I can see why they get stolen rather than properly hired by kids !0

More than 12,000 Santander Cycles across the capital are out of service due to an IT issue, Transport for London (TfL) has said.
Planned software upgrades had overrun and left users are unable to hire the bikes and e-bikes via the Santander Cycles app or docking stations on Tuesday morning.

The locations of Greenwich’s first dockless hire bike parking bays have been quietly released by the council – with a warning that they will be made compulsory for Lime bike users.
