@DubaiCAFC normally has his finger on the pulse, he's been quiet with info lately.
Might be thinking of another poster, but thought his source received info from Methven. So that'll be why they're quiet.
Yes many people thought that, but he always denied it. Methven departs and the rumours stopped.
Wrong again! As I said, I never spoke to him. My source was some different,, if there source was Merhven, that might be true
Kind of gross that Methven used to tell some guy tidbits with the express intention that the guy would pass on to you and Reams, who would in turn post on the 2 forums.
Methven passed on plenty of takeover related info, shaping opinion against other individuals, while greasing the wheels with transfer tips to excite fans.
Well he does have a PR background after all, but the guy is slimy.
Interesting to see how divided we are on Kelman. I’m indifferent.
He’s just come off a great season so could be ready to kick on, but if QPR who I consider are a championship peer in terms of who we will be competing against to achieve mid table, want to move him on, then that might suggest League One was his ceiling
I think the questions for me are, is Knibbs or Kelman better than what we have and do the alleged fees justify their talents or potential talents. At this point I don't think that Kelman or Knibbs are better than what we have and I see either displacing Godden even though Kelman is ten years Goddens junior. As for the fees, I think we could spend it better.
I think Knibbs is better than Carey and Berry, but think it’s unlikely we sign him because we already have 2 players in that position. I think he’d be worth the fee and would fit the way we play well
Kelman I’m less convinced is worth a big fee. I don’t think he gives us what we are missing from our attacking options, which for me is the target man type that a lot of us have been mentioning we need
Not sure we’re looking at this right. Godden is 34 in a few days, moving back up to a league he was seen as not being effective enough in 12 months ago. At best, his games will need to start being managed. I’m not sure what replacement option we have for him at present, someone like Kelman seems that, rather than providing a different option. Leaburn is the target man option

Leaburn doesn’t play like a target man yet though. Look at all his best games and goals for us, they are from him running off defenders and getting the ball played into his feet. And that’s before you even consider that you can’t rely on Leaburn to be fit so who is our target man option then? It was our plan B all of last season to go very direct to Aneke when we needed a goal, Leaburn isn’t as effective when used like that, and is also not one you can rely on to be fit
I don’t think Kelman is similar enough to Godden, I haven’t watched him much but for starters I doubt he is anywhere near as good as Godden in the air, which is a pretty crucial part of playing up front for us. I see Leaburn as the Godden replacement (if he stays fit I think Leaburn ends up starting most games)

Good video here comparing Godden and Kelman and showing they are different players. Biggest thing for me is that Kelman is terrible in the air. There’s no way he’d fit the role Godden played last season. We are a direct team, we need one of our strikers to be decent in the air
If we did sign Kelman (I don’t think we will) he would suit the other striker role more than the Godden role

Yeah I just don't see the fit with Kelman, you've got Tanto, TC and Leaburn competing to start alongside Godden already.
With Miles's injuries I'd be looking for another big man to come in and compete, I know Miles isn't the conventional target man but I think it's an option we need in the squad.
I am not convinced NJ will use identical tactics nor formation as last season but could be wrong. I can see us going 3-4-3 with TC/Carey left, Tanto/Leaburn/Godden down the middle and Apter/new down the right. The right and left sided midfield players tucking back into a 5 when defending. If I am right the new forward whether perm or loan would be a JRS type player rather than a Kelman type.
The alternatives would likely to a 5-2-1-2 or 3-4-1-2, I can’t see us playing a flat back four at all.

I think we may play that system at times, but Jones has been successful his whole managerial career with packing the centre of the pitch, either with 3 centre backs and 3 midfielders or with 4 midfielders in a box/diamond. I really can’t see us playing a system with only 2 central midfield players
I think we could use a 3-4-2-1, maybe in a game we want to be more defensive, with Carey and Apter as the 2 and then play it a bit like a box midfield. But a 3-4-3 with 2 wingers and leaving the middle of the park to just 2 central midfielders would be so against anything Jones has done well in his career so I really can’t see it

I think it’s one of TC/Olaofe and one of Godden/Leaburn at the moment. The new striker will add another option to the Godden/Leaburn role. Jones has liked having big physical strikers in the past so I think he will definitely want another one as an option
The "target man" player does not necessarily have to be that big or tall - Leaburn is absolute unit but his skills and style don't make him particularly effective as a target player, Godden is NOT particularly tall but surprisingly good in the air.
Maybe a Deon Burton type player, not a tall/big man but with good touch and technique and plenty of experience would be on the shopping list.
Good to see the Kelman transfer moving along. Bit of a shame we have to wait for him to move to Luton first before we can then buy him off them but tradition is tradition.
Kelman coming to us & Whatsapp groups was a joke, in case anyone thought it serious.
Be patient, your request to join the Charlton WhatsApp group was discussed by the committee. The special hand shake can take time to master at the seasonal covert get togethers; Normally held at Railway terminals.
Braziliance lost interest in joining when told 10 posts a day was the maximum. My Source told me the get together at the Ribble steam railway museum in Preston was very successful in June. As well as the WhatsApp meet up at the Railway museum in York arranged by Cabbles last year.
I won't join any group that will have me as a member.

I know Witcoop isn't the most reliable but he's saying Luton and 2 MLS clubs in for Kelman.
