From Jones comments looks like Lembiksa is someone he’s interested in having a proper look at pretty much confirms Asiimwe isn’t seen as part of the first team next season. Looks like a RWB ST will be coming and maybe a midfielder but that’s not guaranteed
Haven’t seen Jones’s comments, but what did he say to confirm Asiimwe isn’t part of the plans? No surprise if he’s not (although I think he’s acquitted himself well so far this season)
Also, from that, I wonder, as he seems to be so confident about a striker coming in, whether it’s a prem loan that’s already agreed in principle but the parent club are just waiting for the right moment to send them.

The question marks over Asiimwe will always be whether he’s up to it defensively - the rest of his game is good enough
Seems like we are definitely after a RWB, which says to me that Asiimwe will go out on loan, and that Ramsay will stay at RCB, with Apter and a new signing as the wing back options. Happy with that
This lembikisa wasn’t good enough for one of the worst defensive L1 sides last year hopefully we have our eyes on someone a bit better
Hey, he's only on trial..... we're just taking a look at him.
True but his signing would be underwhelming but we are a way of that point at the moment although would Wolves let him play if there wasn’t something in the offing?
Danny mills, the Norwich reserve right back was underwhelming. How did that turn out?
Better than the underwhelming signings of Allan Campbell, Dan Potts, Lewis Ward, Lewis Fiorini, LuaLua, Tyreeq Bakinson and the very very many of underwhelming and turned out to be rubbish signings, since the underwhelming and turned out to be good signing of Danny Mills some 15 yrs ago.
Small and Ramsay weren't exactly top rated either.
Anyone heard Rich's post match podcast ? whats NJ say about hitting double figures in terms of signings ?
Expects 9 to come in maybe 10 if the right deal comes along but didn’t sound certain it reaches double figures. The 2 new signings will be a wingback and striker and the 10th if there is one would be a No.10
For me i still think we need a CM, RWB and possibly, if i'm greedy, either a finisher or someone creative (Rak-Saki type) up front.
I might be on my own here but the midfield is my biggest worry. I love Coventry, Doc and Anderson and i feel that Rankin-Costello is a solid signing but i can't see us dominating games with those players. In front of them i have similar thoughts on Berry and Carey.
I hope i'm wrong but a quality midfield maestro would make all the difference.

We know we aren’t going to be dominating any games, any players we bring in wouldn’t change that. We’ve got 6 players for 3 positions plus other options like Fullah, I can’t see us bringing in another midfielder

We won’t be setting up to dominate, anyone who thinks we can dominate most of this league clearly hasn’t watched much Championship football recently.
What we need is solid but unspectacular players who will be positionally disciplined, get stuck in and who won’t pass us into trouble. Docherty and JRC fit that bill for me, Anderson fits the first two boxes pretty well and Coventry is basically the perfect player for the role he plays for us
NJ unlikely to dip into the loan market unless it's someone that would improve us significantly in a way we couldn't afford otherwise , would rather have our own players and develop an asset for Charlton.
We definitely need a better centre midfielder who is a bit better on the ball than what we have, I would argue that's the priority over a 10 or a right wing back.
I don't expect us to dominate possession in any game, but we need someone who can control the game a bit better. We won't get away with it as much in the championship, need to at the very least have a bit more control at home, every side is far better than Wycombe and that was a scrap itself.
Striker, right wing back, creative mid and a centre mid and we are looking good. Anything less and it will be a bit of a struggle.
Hope we push for Fukuda, he looks & sounds far more promising than the Wolves wing back

Yes agree this Fukuda lad looks exciting - pace and bags of energy - i remember seeing Sakamoto at Coventry he was everywhere so involved in possession and great crossing ability - I feel he would be a good asset with the intensity of the Championship

On CM I don’t think we’ve seen enough of JRC yet to rule out him being an upgrade.

We won’t be getting in two midfielders having 7 is a stretch but taking that to 9 would just be squad hoarding at that point if we did get 1 a CAM would be probably be better than a CM purely because Costello will probably be better than both Carey and Berry.
Fukuda would be a gamble at 800k and that’s money that’s being spent on a backup. I don’t particularly want Lambikisa in terms of a player but he does know a lot of the squad is young allows Asiimwe to go on loan and is only cover we could even throw Ramsay or Costello ahead of him if we wanted and just bring Doc or Burke in. If we can save that 800k and use that towards a striker that may be the smarter move
I don’t see Fukuda happening now. His club reportedly rejected a loan bid with an option to buy but why would they loan out their captain with no guarantee of a purchase. He’s obviously not surplus to requirements there and I’d imagine only a sizeable bid would even be entertained. I don’t see Charlton paying out a big fee for such a risk.
Find it quite uncomfortable that a few times it’s been said that we should sign Fukuda because other Japanese players have performed well. He might be great, he might be crap, neither of those things will be because he’s Japanese

Anderson Costello Coventry Doc Berry
Carey plus the youngsters and a new number 10 . Can all play central midfield. Think that’s enough for now.
Small was highly rated as a teenager and made his debut for Everton at 16 years and 176 days. He is still raw at 20 but I believe with a coach that believes in him and plays in a team that have the majority of possession will develop into a top player but like all skilful wide players will be a tad erratic !
Ramsey was 23 and at Harrogate in League 2 so many professional scouts, coaches and analysts had reasons why he wasn't playing in the top 3 levels. It wasn't lack of pace or competitiveness so I can only think it was his passing ability at the time. Let's see how Kayne gets on in the higher level this season before wetting ourselves that he is going to the premier !
It's not an exact science recruiting players and Harry Hudson who set up the successful Kinetic academy in South London told me that Joe Aribo who spent 3 years developing first as a CB, then a defensive midfielder and finally Harry turned him into an attacking midfielder when he grew into his body which has made his career even if Joe has never set the Premier alight; Superb at Rangers and in Europe though for the Glasgow team. Hudson who did one on one coaching with international players on a freelance basis has now got the U16 gig with Chelsea while his academy, set up when just 22 and fresh out of university with business partner James continues to flourish with many sharp young coaches working there.
I think every transfer or loan is a punt for cafc and there are never any guarantees whether you get a Ramsey or a Kirk but you would've hoped that Charlie who always looked lightweight was noticed by the recruiting team !
Still a couple more to come in for CAFC and RWB seems the priority as I feel it's best that Ramsey stays as the RCB as the partnership with Jones and Macca was so strong. Let Bell or whoever show their better than our Wembley hero.

Yeah he's probably added to our squad, concern is playing 40 games.

I would agree if we were still in League 1, that would be decent. We need a bit more quality than that though.
Hopefully we have some more players lined up, we know the quality is there to be picked up.
