"Sam Bartram, Jimmy Seed… We Won the FA Cup”
Ahead of the 25/26 Season, Charlton Athletic Supporters' Trust are thrilled to launch a new line of merchandise in homage to the Addicks’ most successful manager - Jimmy Seed.
Seed was manager from 1933 to 1956 and led the club to its most successful period - including winning the Division Three (now League One) title as well as gaining successive promotions from the Third Division to the First Division between 1934 and 1936, becoming the first club to ever do so. In 1937, his Charlton team finished runners up in the First Division, finishing three points behind champions Manchester City.
The design proudly shows off the great man's handwritten ‘Charlton Athletic’ on the chest as well as his signature on the left sleeve. CAST extracted the club's name from Seed's 1943 letter to Peter Croker in which he encouraged the player to sign for the club. The signature comes from an autograph book which Seed signed for his grandson. The designs fantastically show the very handwriting, unchanged and 100% accurate, that brought so much success to SE7.
The new line comes in various T-shirt options, as well as a plush sweatshirt option.

A huge thank you must also go to Jim Dutton - @JamesSeed - Jimmy Seed's grandson - who helped find various examples of his grandfather's handwriting and signature- as well as some fabulous cartoons drawn by the great man. We would also like to say a big thank you to colleagues at The Charlton Athletic Museum, who plucked out the fantastic letter mentioned above.
As with all CAST merchandise ALL PROFITS are put back into fan engagement projects and initiatives. Recent examples are our "All Different. All Together. All Charlton" diversity programme; our Ticketbank scheme, and our subsidy of a supporter coach to our women's match at Bristol City.
