Why couldn't the owners put this sort of money in place last season?
Would have made things a bit easier...
Because they had to spend it on getting a structure in place and a foundation to build the club on and move forward after 12 years of neglect and assist stripping
Is that what you call selling CBT? I didn’t think you rated him.

Most overrated player ever to wear the shirt and once he refused to play in a cup tie in case it affected a move away that was that
Conservative estimate not knowing exact fees this would make it £8m spent? Assuming the QPR fans are right with £3m.
Kelman - 3 million Tanto - 1.5 m Kaminski - 900k JRC - 750k Burke - 300k Apter - 2.5 m
Around* 9 million spent on transfer fees so far, if rumoured prices are to be believed.
It's ridiculous and I don't think anyone saw it coming tbh. It goes beyond what Pompey and Oxford spent now I think, and it's almost as much as Derby, except Derby sold Cashin for a big fee. We are certainly giving ourselves a fighting chance.
So either we are doing the same as Derby and selling an asset to cover for all this, or, the owners have decided they hated league 1 as much as us, don't want to chance us seeing it again and are taking a bit of a financial gamble.
If we sign Kelman, and his goal return drops by 50% due to the higher league, that will still compare very well with all the Championship clubs leading scorers last season.
And I have to say spending up to £12m on players, if Knibbs and Fukuda come in too, I like the way we've done it. Lots of clubs in this league would sign 2 big names for 5-6m each and supplement it with lots of loans and a couple of freebies, we've steadily added depth and talent to the squad without splashing insane amounts around

Think both Burke and Kaminski was slightly more but I’d say the rest is spot on from what we’ve heard.

I remember after the play off Final posting something along the lines of all roads now lead to the ownership and they have more than stuck there hands up here.
If those fees are correct and the spending still isn't over then this will surpass the big Ian Dowie spending spree which ultimately was the root cause of our decline of the last 18 years.
Serious statement from the owners here, certainly exceeding all our hopes and expectations this transfer window.

Yes 12 goals from him would be good , with others contributing too .

Apter and Tanto have the potential to be sold for 10 million plus if they have perform in this league. I'm confident one of them will be playing in the prem in a few years.
If we didn’t spend like this we’d be going straight back down. We get at least £10m more in revenue this year so it needed to be put on the squad. Still going to be a challenge to stay up but I think we can do it

I’m not surprised re the money being spent our owners have a lot of financial clout and when they came here they wasn’t buying a league one club. I think promotion came a year early and surprised everyone but once achieved they were always going to provide a budget to keep improving. Whether our signings prove to be enough to keep the momentum going who knows but that isn’t the ownerships job. They have done what they can the rest is up to NJ, the squad and us as fans
I’m not sure we’d have paid 3m for Kelman, at least not as a basic fee. He’s into the final year of his contract. If it’s close to 3m I’m sure it’ll include a number of clauses. If the clauses are hit then it means he’s been a success and the 3m was worth it but 3m upfront, no.

Isn't Bell kind of a player who plays in the Edwards area of the pitch? Defensively at least. Or is it about Bell and Gillesphey?
Apparently bell can’t play there anymorw
Edwards is hardly a gung-ho full/wing back. With our system last season, he played like a steady left back behind TC, with Small on the right having licence to be an attacking player. I'm sure Bell could play the Edwards role.
That’s in possession though when pressing a lot of the time Edwards was practically marking the opposition wingback/fullback to force them to go long and then let one of Jones Macca and Kayne clear up the long ball. I don’t doubt bell’s technical ability or positional awareness to do the role I’d just question whether he has the engine and pace to manage the intensity and speed of executing the press and being able to recover back into position. I wouldn’t hate him in that role but If there was a prem club looking to loan out a LWB we could take on as cover I wouldn’t say no.
Prem clubs want their young loaned out players to start or at the very least be what NJ calls 'game finishers'.
It's all about the assurance of their young players getting the experience of regular 1st team League games.
Otherwise they may as well stay with their parent club.
