As far as I'm aware, teams can wear the same colour shorts. In any case 2 colours (white and black) should be enough, though I'm sure Reebok would be able to provide some 'emergency' shorts just for the players if it were really needed.fenaddick said:
Sort of but it's also good to have "away" kits with different shorts colours to avoid having to mix and match when there's a clash with the home teamTalal said:
Use the same shorts for both. Wouldn't happen though as it's all about moneycafc999 said:
Agree, but what colour shorts would you have with a black 3rd kit?felix_31 said:
I stand by what I said - it would work better overall with black shortsPelling1993 said:The more I see the away kit the less I like it.1 -
I needed some emergency shorts once, don't want to talk about it though 🚽Talal said:

I think they can't which is why on odd occasions we've mixed and matched. My point wasn't that you need 3 colours of shorts but that you don't end up mixing and matching whichever away kit you're wearing with the home kit but it's a very small distinction I'll admitTalal said:

I remember having to wear westbroms away shorts up at the hawthorns one year2

Feel like the rules changed on shorts a season or two ago but could be wrong. Though probably wouldn't be able to register the same colour shorts for 2 kits with the EFL anyway.fenaddick said:

Old rules were you could have the same shorts etc but I think now they're more strict with kit clashes.
I know a few years ago FIFA decided all kits at the World Cup must be "light" or "dark" which is why we started wearing all white, France wore all blue and Argentina switched to white home shorts instead of black. Thankfully they saw sense and scrapped it0 -
Then you still end up with Chelsea v City with both in home kits.0

Do we? Other than the home what's the other for?fenaddick said:

Sorry that’s my bad memory! In my head they were white with a blue stripe, would look better come to think of it…2

It would - or black, which makes me wonder if we have black shorts on the third kit.fenaddick said:Sorry that’s my bad memory! In my head they were white with a blue stripe, would look better come to think of it…

The women's team have worn black shorts as part of their home kit for the last few years, so at a guess the third kit shorts are likely to be black? Otherwise we'll end up with 4 colours, only 3 of which will be on sale to fans.1
-
No news on the third whatsoever. Strange.2
-
I thought the women wearing black shorts were because of a different reason. I know a few teams have adopted darker shorts for their womens teams, so to protect the women from being worried about bleeding/periods etc. showing up, as it would be much more obvious on lighter and white shorts.Swindon_Addick said:The women's team have worn black shorts as part of their home kit for the last few years, so at a guess the third kit shorts are likely to be black? Perhaps the plan was to reveal the third kit with the next signing…0

I bought a couple of "moody" charlton shirts from ali express (both from different sellers). They only cost a fiver each and they're just decorative, used as seat covers in my truck. The first one had none of the black splatter marks on it, and the badge was (printed) too small, and the black trim on the arms looked too wide. The second one was a bit better, but I think the badge looks too big. Both are very poorly made, very thin material (can't compare it with an authentic one until I get one next weekend). Neither had the reebok logo.

Yes, that's the reason. The whole of the women's game is moving towards dark coloured shorts. The thing is that we've specifically adopted black as part of the home kit so the women are going to wear black even if that isn't one of the three official colours.DyerConsequences said:

As part of the trend towards dark coloured shorts, the various leagues no longer worry about teams playing in the same coloured shorts as long as the shirts and socks contrast clearly, so there only needs to be one dark colour. There's no law that says they can't play in colours that the club doesn't sell replicas of, but it would be a bit of a shame if girls inspired by watching the women's team can't get a full replica women's kit.3 -
A couple of seasons ago, I thought the mens team should've adopted brown shorts for similar reasons5

Our third kit is actually the Jamaican colours 🤣2
