  • A well deserved award for a real gentleman in a generally ungentlemanly sport
  • Well deserved ♥️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
  • Arise Sir Chris! Most well deserved !
  • Do do we know who / what body thought to nominate him?
  • I can say with all honesty that he was, is and always will be SCP in our house.... Even If he were to take Wednesday to the Premier League, win the title and Lord it up in Europe. I don't even mind that they love him too. No success he achieves in this sport we all love, is undeserved.

    Legend.

As others have said, felt a bit emotional upon hearing the news.

    Well done that man!
  • Congratulations Sir Chris. A well deserved honour to a great man and lovely bloke.
  • About time! Many congratulations SCP, we are all extremely proud of everything you have achieved, and no-one deserves this honour more than you.
  • Having his Knighthood taken away and given a MBE seems like a relegation !

Top man and yet another Charlton connection to be proud of.
  • Congratulations to a gentleman and a great guy.

  • I believe Powell would have taken us back to the premier league with half a shot at it.

What has Powell done above and beyond thousands of footballers/ coaches in the game to warrant this other than being a nice bloke?

    Edit
.saw he was PFA chairman so probably for that.

Apart from all of his anti racism work , being a pioneer for black coaches, absolutely nothing

Was asking the question. No need for the sarcasm.

  • Definitely deserving of an official honour.

    Well done "Sir" Chris!!

  • Always hate seeing Chris Powell working for another football club. He should come home.

I don't think he will be out of work for long
Agreed but he did say at the fans meeting in February that he wouldn't ever take a mangers job again. He was pretty adamant about that.

I'm not sure how qualified he is (PFA chairman for 5 years tbf!) but this would be maybe the most popular appointment in CAFC history

Curbs apart, would anyone else be a better ambassador for the club?
