  • Don't think Knibbs will be straight involved if he's not had much of a preseason. Could be on the bench against Watford but would be surprised if he starts.
  • Get Fukuda over, medical, sign him on a pre-contract agreement and offer £200k for him to miss the last 20 games of his season in Japan. Simples!

Apart from  Ramsay, L  Jones, Edwards and Coventry, we have now brought in replacements for the rest of last season's first team except RWB
    Kaminski
    Ramsay, Jones, Bell
    RWB Coventry Costello Edwards
    Knibbs
    Apter Kelman

That front three scored 45 goals and had 14 assists in the league last season between them.

Not even room for Burke, Olaofe or Carey in this lineup, let alone Gillesphey, Docherty, Berry, TC, Anderson, Godden  or Leaburn

    Apter will be RWB
I don’t know our new players at all , but I’d factor in this in as the long term vision :

    Kaminski

    Ramsay, Jones, Bell/ Gillesphey

JRC, Apter, Coventry , Knibbs, Edwards

    Kelman  , Olaofe.

    looks good .
I said that as RWB is where Apter has played so far, and JRC has played CM, so expect that’s the aim but with those 2 the other way around.

Coventry the defensive of the midfield 3, Knibbs the attacking one.

What’s also exciting is we can make 5 attacking subs without significantly weakening the team.
In a team like ours, I’d rather have the more mobile one on the outside and the more creative one in the middle .
  • Bloody neighbour just turned up with a wedding invite while my phone is pinging constantly ffs!

  • Probably waaaaaay too optimistic and would need quite a few outs to make it work , but could it still be 2-3 more to come? Wouldn't be surprised if it was Donkey,RWB (Fukuda please , Dexter doesn't sound up to it) and then Joe Bennett gets a year deal as depth?

Donkey sounds exactly like our sort of player
  • Can I be the first one to say.....

I think we've signed too many players. No idea where they are all going to fit in. Knibbs & Costello ?  Coventry & Doc ? What about Berry ?

    Doing my head in 😉😆.
Have we at least got enough strikers now for your liking?

  • I can hardly wait for the season to start. What a stunning window.

I think we are in for an exceptional experience this term (for a Charlton fan) and I can see The Valley virtually full for most home games.

A season to relish. We`ve waited long enough.
Might take a game or two to "gel".

More for you to moan about Golfy.

Welcome Knibbo as JJ would say.
16 players will be used every match by CAFC out of the named 20.
Many of the forwards and midfielders will be subbed or come on from the bench. Some with the ever ready battery will go the Hundred odd minutes whereas the Jonny Williams 60 minutes battery lads will make way for the game changers or the players to hold on to what we have.

The days of having an 11 that start every game when fit is so last season for cafc so different in the championship; we have strengthen and now have depth in the squad with possibly just another RWB.
  • Wonder how this goblin feels today

Championship footie, have your 2 nils ya spoon
Full grown man getting excited that a player probably 10 years younger than him gave him a thumbs up at a corner.... What a melon

We have had years of useless managers and owner - not anymore. Whatever the reason this deal broke down, I trust the club and the manager.

All the noise from some of our fans is very odd - would they rather we spend £1.8m on a player who may have potential injury problems or some other problem? Let's support the club and stop the whinging. We don't need to know why the deal is off.

No doubt they will have other targets in mind.
Does this relate to social media, because I can’t see much whinging on here? Just disappointment.
Maybe it is social media, but why the disappointment?

I feel relief this deal did not go through because there will be a reason. Why do we need to be told the reason?

I am glad they changed their minds rather than do a poor signing.

Because we looked like we were going to sign a really good player and now we’re not. Pretty straightforward really.

Happy days - we have just signed him.
