Looks like these are new squad numbers for this season, Fullah 12, Mbick 15 and Mwamba 19 stick out, with all the new signings they could have been left with higher numbers.

Same number as last season, unless he leaves I can't see Jones being the kind of guy to take a number off a player forcefully

    Also going by last season

    8 Berry
    11 Leaburn
    13 Dixon
    24 Godden
    25 Mannion

Doesn't leave many options for Knibbs, Burke, Rankin-Costello and any other new signings

Squad Numbers seem over-rated these days, given that players tend to have a preference and connection to a particular number these days, rather than No. 1-11 being the main starting eleven.

So is the below fair so far? Based on pre season shirt numbers…

    1 Kaminski
    2 Ramsay
    3 Gillesphey
    4 A.Mitchell
    5 Jones
    6 Coventry
    7 Campbell
    8 Berry
    9 Ahadme
    10 Docherty
    11 Leaburn
    12 Fullah
    13 Dixon
    14 Carey
    15 Mbick
    16 Edwards
    17 Bell
    18 Anderson
    19 Mwamba
    20 Z.Mitchell
    21 Maynard-Brewer
    22 Olaofe
    23 Kelman
    24 Godden
    25 Mannion
    26 Rankin-Costello
    27
    28
    29 Kanu
    30 Apter

Leaves Burke and Knibbs without numbers.

All depends on how kosher the numbers were and how many were based on what was free at the time

He did do that to AMB last season though in the expectation that a new number 1 would come in and AMB would leave. Maybe he learned a lesson from that.

I assume neither Tanto nor Kelman want - lower number , 9, for example.

In the Kelmam video, his first choice was 23

Burke was wearing 23 earlier in pre-season as well so obviously wasn't too bothered handing it over. It's a risky choice, one of the most cursed numbers we've had in a long time.

Do when know when the official numbers are released?
I have a bet to buy but need the correct number.
It's unlikely to change but knowing my luck it will 🤣

Knibbs paying the price for not signing earlier with that number
  • What does a youth player have to do to get a number? Just interested as I see Gough has one but the likes of Bower and Casey don't.

I’m assuming having made the bench in the EFL trophy but could be wrong

He could have taken 19, which was Asiimwe's number but he's off on loan

Knibbs taking Declan Rice's 41. Maybe he seems himself playing that role.

No one in the world is going to be happier than you if Knibbs starts a match as an 8 at some point this season

Is there a rule in English football where you can't use specific numbers, i.e. Harvey Knibbs couldn't have gone for the Ronaldinho 80 that he used at Milan?

Just want Charlton Athletic to be a good team in midfield as well as defence, we are almost there

There are many positives to keeping a squad together ahead of the new season but the downside is you get some stinkers like this in the gaps. Olaofe 22? Apter 30? Knibbs 41? Jones out.
  • When you see all the players listed like that, you realise we have got quite a squad numerically wise.

Apter should be 15 not 30. Disgraceful

Tants taking Chuks' 22 is fine (though I would have given it to Mbick personally)

Apter wears 25 usually, Mannion has that though and Apter's other shirt number is 36 but I believe Gough used that last season and is keeping it.

Knibbs, no clue why he took 41, maybe he loves rice, maybe he grew up at number 41 on whatever street he lived on, who knows.

I don't think so. Though the club may set their own rules 🤷

Think it has to be one or two digits and you keep the same number, though I think if you go on loan someone can have your number, then if you come back you can then have a different number. Michael Jordan 23 started the popularity for that number I think.

And you have to pay some respect to Charlton's greatest number 1, Stuart Balmer.

They probably do but not included on the above senior squad list.

22 is a backup right back's number. It's bad enough that Chuks had it in the first place
