  • New 3rd kit looks like a take on the Jamaican top perhaps that’s why Anderson will be modelling it
  • I reckon with NJ releasing Rodwell for a break we'll focus on Saturday with who we've already got, but plenty of window left to complete the jigsaw.

I went and had a look at our squad from a couple years ago, and there are a horrendous number now in league 2 or non league. Just shows how far we've come, and how important that playoff win was for the direction of the club. The proof of the pudding will be in the eating etc but hopefully this window gives us plenty to enjoy gobbling up.
Nothing to say that in 2 years time you could look at our current squad and see some of them plying their trade in League 2 or below.

Kelman has no pedigree in anything but League 1. Same with Apter and Olaofe. Then there are our Academy players such as TC and Anderson.

As you say......the proof of the pudding is in the eating. I do hope I am eating my words along with a slice of humble pie in 2 years time...but I could also be right.
So in your world no team
should get promoted because none of their players will be good enough for the next league up ..

    Do ya reckon?
  • The person in that teaser isn't even Karoy, it's Elisha N'Dow

    Shut up you melt
It's called a counter arguement. None of what I stated isn't true. Not saying those players will disappear off the face of the earth but no one can say 100% that they wont be below the Championship when their contracts are up.
I’ll give you some backup on this golfie. Although your argument is I think on the extreme side I do see where you are coming from. The main thrust of our recruitment has been to pick off the better league one players which I think you’ll agree was the way to go. We’ve supplemented that with some older experienced Championship players who in my humble opinion with the exception of Kaminski arnt names that would blow anyone’s socks off. Sound but probably not any better than those found in any Championship squad we’ll face. We need both sides of that equation to work and there’s probably more risk of that blowing up with the “exciting “ signings from league one, than the steady Eddie older payers. It’s absolutely terrific that for the first time in years we’ve actually gone and spent some decent money and we should enjoy it but I think a lot of people are getting carried away. This squad has if all works out given us a fighting chance of survival. For me that’s about it. Only for example but there’s as much chance of us lauding Fullah at the seasons end as it is Kelman or Apter. We’ve gambled and need to hope it works out.
Agree with this. My biggest question mark however is over our homegrown players. I am not sure that any of them have shown enough last season to think they can make it in the Champ, as first teamers I mean. I fact, NJ has brought in more experienced or better performing players in every position that they were in last season. The ones from  League one,  Kelman, Apter and Olaofe, made a bigger impact over the season than TC or Leaburn. Knibbs more than Anderson.
I do hope that some at least keep progressing, although a full season on loan in a top league one side may suit most of them best.
The one who may make more of an impact than any is Fullah, because he has an x factor others do not

  • All transfers are a gamble, but there's no harm in having 2 aces in your starting hand to help your odds. Knibbz & Kelz

How did they make a bigger impact than TC, Leaburn and Anderson ? The impact that each and every Charlton player had last season resulted in getting to Wembley and winning promotion.

  • Update:

The player with the meeting today is Knibbs.

However I have been informed a player had a medical Saturday.
    Bit late for Knibbs now?
  • Going to keep my hopes down and assume it was Bennett who had the medical

Not sure that makes sense, surely you give at least a quick medical to anyone that comes on trial with you?

The type of meeting is something that would happen after a player signs predominantly.

To an extent but you’d still need to do a full when you decide to sign. The risk responsibility changes from being on the player to being on the club
