Coming in and playing well on loan for us as a young player over the last few years must have been a challenge, given how awful we’ve been.  And frankly it we look back at successful loans of any age over the last 30 years , the list is short -Bartlett, Costa, Dasilva, Cullen, Bielik, Gallagher .. there must be more- I guess you can include Heaney, Maatsen.  Not many of those were that young .
JRS and Sessegnon did well. Arguably Famewo, Leko the first time, Liam Millar, Stockley's loan was good, Steer, Purrington, Mavididi, Amos, Rudd, Nathan Byrne was ok, Fanni, Buyens, Bulot, Coquelin, Obika, Cort, Johnnie Jackson wasn't a bad one, Burton, Alex Song, Carson. There's plenty of good in there, the problem is almost every season the good is surrounded by so much rubbish it negates the value. What's the point in bringing in future Barcelona midfielder Alex Song if he has to play alongside Amdy Faye? No point having Rod Fanni if you've also loaned in Simon Makienok and Yaya Sanogo

Also, side note but I went through a few years of transfers to remember some of those loans and the main thing I took away from it was we signed Neil Etheridge three times
Alex Song was mustard .  Thanks - you’re right - there are a few more .

Spurs are an interesting one. Maybe they will remember how we treated Nile John. Was meant to be their starlet and didn’t get a look in for us
John has since reached the dizzy heights of the Portuguese 2nd tier.
Yeah, I mean fancy having to suffer the beautiful and sunny Santa Maria da Feira, on the West Coast of Portugal when you could be plying your trade in rainy Nth London...terrible ain't it...🙄
Is there an east coast of Portugal ? 😉
No, as you know well enough...but there is a South Coast...🙄

In his defence, there is a south coast, with the coastline from Faro to the Spanish border trending northeastwards...

Edit, also, being super pedantic, what about the eastern shorelines of Madeira or the Azores?

Tavira is beautiful, we are very lucky to live here!
  •  Brendan Wiredu … abused  by his own fans at home park on Saturday , Plymouth had to release a statement condemning the behaviour towards Brendon during the game ( his debut )
I watched the highlights and he had a dog of a game, scored an own goal, launched a clearance into his own box which led to a second goal and then had a wrestling match in his own box with a Barnsley player

I hope the abuse wasn’t racist but anything that came his way football related was well deserved

  • Just goes to show how Football has progressed, and how fucked it is

Did we ever really have to spend £10m in the Premier League, just to be able to finish at least 17th

Whereas that's what we've clearly had to do this summer, but in the f**king Championship
Problem is the championship is the most unbalanced and unfair league going ..a promoted team gets very little but still expected to spend around 12/15 mill just to finish 4th from bottom yet teams that come down get 90 mill parachute money over 3 years …
I've given you a like there RonnieMoore.
Probably the best post from you I've ever read.
There has been a change in his posts. I reckon he has discovered chat gtp
His lols outnumber his likes by over 2 to 1.
Perhaps he's trying to remedy that.

So, 140 new posts and if this last page is anything to go by, all about Portugal coastal areas. Seems about right for a rumours thread.

Haven’t any of you got hobbies, and I don’t include CL  as a hobby before anyone says it, or homes to go to?

Argyle just had a bad day at the office.
    They'll sort themselves out.

Barnsley will be playoff contenders, I should think.

It’s nice, but it’s no Stockport.
  • Watts (I think was his name) looked good for Argyle

Terrific window so far. Can't wait to get started and I don't see any need to worry re: staying up.
  • A this chat about is the squad good enough....The thing is about Charlton, when we've been successful we've always been the sum of all parts, the whole club as one, without massively exceptional stand alone players. We've had brilliant players, the likes of Clive, Yann, Scotty Parker etc, the list goes on, who have been a big part of that, but collectively, we have success with strength and conviction. That's the Charlton way, and that feels like what's happening again. The talk of our signings maybe not being champ experience and quality or have been relegated from this league, it's all relative to other environments. They are in our environment now. And I reckon we will give this season a right fecking go and suprise the league. We are building and strengthening across all facets, and thats how we have always been successful. I can't wait for Saturday.
    UTA.

    So you say EVERY day.
And on every transfer rumours thread, every year it seems.
These threads won't ever change, I don't get why it's so hard just to scroll on.

Scoring enough goals and not having too many injuries will be the determining factors .  We finally have a proper sports science department and we’ve invested in our attacking players - we’ve given ourselves a chance .

Nothing yet. Wonder if Rangers is off with them taking Mikey Moore from Spurs on loan.

I still have a suspicion that Southampton could be in play once they sell Tyler Dibling.

Er, didn’t say it yesterday or the day before and of course one can scroll on but it takes a heckuva lot of scrolling through bollox to separate the wheat from the chaff and naturally we’re all keen on actual rumours, rather than the endless bollocks that gets posted mostly.

For those of you who’ve got nothing better to do, why don’t you set up an “Endless Bollox” thread and then you could all be on there until your hearts are content.
