Could be going back to Scotland on loan, Hibs & Dundee interested.
    Where's this?

Dundee is just off A90 and Hibs is on Albion Place in Edinburgh 😀

I'm fairly sure that NJ has already put the kibosh on this, when St. Johnstone asked if they could loan him back next season...

    Above England.
    Looking Up Gif
  • I’ll be amazed if he’s not in the squad next season .  I cannot believe we will be buying more than 1 more centre back , unless Alex Mitchell goes and Zac is far better cover for Ramsay than Alex .

Had we stayed in league one, I would say the same, don’t think going up has helped him atm in his development.

He can develop in the first team.
  • I expect him to stay. If he does go out on loan, it'll be late in the window when we've done most of our business.
  • I want to be impressed but remain quite unimpressed. Seems the same level as some of our younger youth products who haven't been out on loan. Any I the only one in this camp?

    I can't see it either.

  • Didn’t watch tonight but much harder to stand out as a young CB than an attacking player, if you play well against a team a division below you and you’re a defender you won’t get noticed much
  • I've always said he's not physically strong enough. Only way he'll make it with us is as a midfielder.

Thats a bold suggestion... Sorry!! - Not Sorry!!

Yep....I'm with you. Didnt see anything that made me think he could be adequate cover should we need it.

Mmm, a very generic comment. I'm trying to talk specifics now about his actual development and ability in a red shirt.
  • He's... fine, I guess? I'm not excited about him in the same way we got excited about Gomez and Konsa, I'd say his level is higher than Ness, but not yet at a level where he's pushing for starts in the championship

I just don’t think we’ve seen enough of him to judge fully, partly because CB subs are rarer. I would like to see him loaned to L1 to see how he performs at a level we know well
  • Zach Mitchell is not a problem, but a very good asset.
I wish he felt less shackled and was liberated enough to do a few of his trademark forward surges. Last night was a decent opportunity to do that but for some reason he held back.

I agree. He played very well in the Wealdstone pre season game.

  • Zach is a very talented "baller". Learning the dirty work of being a centre back takes longer to learn though.

Playing right centre back in our system brings demands - he’s probably better suited to the middle .  Alex Mitchell isn’t good on the right either .  He could do with a loan, although I’m not sure we can afford to do it - 1 injury and he’s in the squad, 3 and he’s playing .  I like him - I think there’s talent there .  He’s young for a centre half - Gomez being sensational ay 18 isn’t the norm - most centre halves take longer to develop .
I think that's a good point, comparison can ruin things. Zach Mitchell is a 20 year old centre back who is receiving criticism for not looking as good as some Champions League-level international footballers did. They were incredible talents but we don't need Zach to be as good as them right now or even ever. Players develop at different speeds and Zach has plenty of time to become a better player.
  • I was surprised by his choices on the ball. Late in the first half, he cut out an attack near right-back and under little pressure, booted it out for a throw....an Alex Mitchell special. Jones was not impressed.

Not expecting Kayne Ramsay flair, but a true 'baller' would’ve taken a touch and found a pass. I want him to do well, but am allowed to call what I see like everybody does with our other youth products (TC, Karoy, etc).

  • He normally takes a touch and moves forward and passes well.

At the Wealdstone game he received a hospital pass near the corner flag. He nutmegged two opposition players and cleared the ball.

He also covers well at the back when through balls are played with well timed tackles.
  • He needs a League One loan where he is going to get games. He's had two loans now, one in League Two and one in Scottish Prem where he got brilliant reviews. A run of games will really help him to fulfill his potential if it is really there.
  • Two loans and a step up from L1 to Scottish Prem. Seems to have strong attributes.
But, I don't see him dislodging either of Ramsey or Jones this season (sadly for him 2 of our best players). Then we have A Mitchell and Burke in reserve.
I can't help but feel that if a decent L1 team came in that could guarantee decent game time to January then that would be best for his development.  Certainly better than kicking around in our U21s for 5 months or so.
The worry of course is Burkes injury record combined with the fact Ramsey and Jones have had injuries each season with us so far, meaning do we have sufficient cover.
  • His loan in League 2 was a disaster.  He wasn’t quite ready yet.  His loan last year in Scotland was a success.  He needs a loan to League one where he is going to play consistently not sitting on the bench and never playing in the championship. Unfortunately with Burke being out, I am not sure that is going to happen for the fall as we need cover.
