  • This will go one of two ways and probably determine if the kid has a future here. He seems to have the raw talent to tear it up in league 2 but his lack of professional minutes and his diminutive stature means he may well not be able to replicate that in the EFL.

So intrigued to find out though and I think crawley or Bromley were the best 2 options for him.
  • No reflection on the player but the original transfer might bear some investigation.
    Nice one Charlie.
  • I might be drunk but when I saw him against Dartford he had more of a spark and opportunity than most of the other players. He has potential and will go further in his career and I hope that's with us.
  • The thing is...

He's obviously now fallen behind Fullah.

Will he ever catch up? The writing's on the wall...

    Fullah is a midfielder ; he’s a striker .

Dixon is a wide forward(old fashion winger) mainly and coming to CAFC at 20 was raw and not easy to make the transition after no academy training in a European or South American recognized football country.
I said it was time for Dixon to go on loan and pleased he has this opportunity at Crawley.

Fullah has already shown his versatile and can play in a number of positions including wing back and attack from wide positions or move central as he showed with his tenacity in scoring his goal against Stevenage.

Just my opinion but Fullah could be the best talent to come out of the Cafc academy to progress to the 1st team over the last five seasons; if he stays fit, humble and keeps learning with his natural ability.

Not sure he was ever really ahead of Fullah.

Nonetheless it will be interesting to see if Dixon makes it and I hope he does.
  • Dixon on the bench today for Crawley
  • Came on for the last 30 minutes

  • Dixon does so well to take on a handful of opposition defenders, but his final effort is at the keeper.

    1-0

he played as a 10 against Dartford

I think I could probably just about play as a 10 against Dartford!

Crawley fans saying he was best player on the pitch when he was on.
This is the Dixon dilemma in a nutshell. "Best player on the pitch, no-one could get near him" - BUT in League 2. He's clearly got bags of talent but he's perpetually playing catch up and I'm not sure if the stars will ever align in just the right way that we get to see him break through at Charlton - though I do hope to be wrong.

You can’t just drop that in without some explanation of what you mean.
I suspect he's suggesting a certain former director with links to both CAFC and the academy in Jamaica might have a had a vested interest in getting young Kaheim over to Europe, which might have potentially clouded judgement on his ability and readiness for such a move, somewhat.

He’s still too young for a post like this imo.  Like all our youth of similar age he has a couple of years of loans to prove himself.  I have not seen enough to have a view either way but he clearly has a chance is he is impressing in league footy.

Somebody else has mentioned Dixon having to play a % of minutes this season in connection to visa/work permits.

But Dixon wasn't signed from Mount Pleasant.

Nothing dodgy about that though, the tone of the post suggests some kind of corruption.

Much more complex than that. Even if he plays 0 minutes we can still play him next season. You get 4 “extra” slots for players who don’t qualify for a post brexit work permit. Ideally we don’t want Dixon to take up one of those 4 so we can find other hidden gems abroad. We don’t NEED him to get a work permit, it would just be useful

No, but I would be surprised if it wasn’t Methven who really championed that deal and I doubt NJ would’ve been pursuing him otherwise. It would potentially help drive future interest in European clubs bringing over young players from Jamaica, such as those in the Mount Pleasant academy, if Dixon were to do well here and demonstrate that Jamaican talent can make the step up. That and we also hear our Jamaica inspired third kit was Charlie Boy’s idea and was even, possibly, intended to be our second strip.

I’m just speculating on what Airman may be driving at, is all. But I also doubt Charlie’s nan was from Kingston so his sudden love for the Reggae Boyz probably extends beyond just having a really nice holiday there once.

Kaminski is the only other player in the squad (Ahadme excluded) that wasn’t born in the UK and he’ll play 70% of minutes, injury permitting. So it’s not like we’re low on slots
  • Dixon definitely needs game time to prove that he can do it. He’s not a teenager and although still young I think this coming season could easily be make or break for his Charlton career. He needs to be selected week in week out at Crawley because given the hype about he’s ability he should be very capable of looking good in league two.

Kaminski probably qualifies for a WP so no issue there. The question is if we want to find value from other markets like Japan, eastern Europe etc. We might want the headroom. It’s just a hypothesis
