A few people are saying it’s borough wide but I live in one part of Eltham, my parents another. Can anyone saying it’s every street in the borough point me to the scheme in Eltham?0

Greenwich says it will bring in “an accelerated programme of CPZ expansion borough-wide, with the intention of borough-wide CPZ controls to help control and manage car ownership”.

Can we assume that all members of Greenwich council do not own cars, and either cycle or use public transport to get to work.
I read their strategy and am just dumbfounded by the sheer ignorance and arrogance of these people.
Do they expect residents who at the moment park freely to suddenly volunteer to pay to park outside their own homes.
How do people get to and from work ,if everyone jumped on a bus,you would have queues a mile long.Trains are already overcrowded and rarely run on time, what would happen if the requirement for a train seat doubled, can you imagine the chaos at overcrowded stations, then the havoc of the onward journey to a place of work.
We have had one year where our country has been made the laughing stock of the world, and our local councils are doing their best to alienate everyone who wished to drive a car.
Emergency elections should be called all round.6 -

Emergency elections should be called all round.Tooting Red Army - As a cyclist, user of public transport & car driver, Greenwich councils intentions are publicily for a greener and cleaner air transport policy but also they can't say its to raise extra revenue. I drive over and park in the streets around The Valley mainly to avoid the chaos at Charlton station after the match. Trains to London Bridge often packed and gates to station closed, so I can drive & be back home well before I would if I take train and tube etc.
Having lived in a street where I never had any problem ever parking directly outside my house, Wandswoth council despite everyone objecting imposed a paid resident parking and visitors pay at meter in the road or app. They get £480 of me for two permits for our cars, I get it its a way for boroughs to bring money in as they are underfunded. Greenwich will be eyeing up the revenue from paid parking through the borough, they just can't say it, local government funding has been seriously affected by last Goverment 14yrs of neglet, its not just last 12 months.3 -
Living in Blackheath I constantly see streams of traffic with cars with one or maybe two occupants. We all know that supply and demand drive economics. So let’s imagine a world where cars are in the minority and as a result public transport is plentiful and fully utilised.Traffic is reduced, transport times are quicker and parking becomes a non-issue.6

Signed this, Greenwich Council has had some strange policies, and I was born in the borough, and worked in it. My parents were labour supporters, but I do not support this, It seems to discriminate against Charlton fans in an unfair way, especially to fans living outside the borough these days, like myself.1

A driverless car revolution in London is probably 15yrs off....who knows?1 -

Again, it is looking for solutions to problems where the problems don't exist in the first place.

It’s about a bigger picture. The problem is gradually increasing. The number of cars on the road is increasing annually. At what point do we wake up and realise that the roads are full?I agree it’s easy money for local councils now but that’s just the world we live in today.Let’s think a bit longer term and try and restore the transport infrastructure we once had (before we sold it) and try and build it out for a better future.3

What does the Council think happens if fans cannot park near to the ground? Congestion and residents’ “challenges” are simply displaced to a neighbouring area. And you need to be reasonably fit if you are having to walk from further and further distances. Given age demographic of fans that is an issue.First game of the season and I have the choice of public transport or driving. Ongoing weekend network disruptions mean the train journey is 2hrs 45 mins and costs £34. Driving is 1hr 20mins and £20 in fuel.
But aware of possible limited parking near the ground, I parked at Dartford station and did the last leg by train. Could not believe how congested Dartford was, took me 30 minutes to get on to the M25! So I’m just adding to Dartford traffic problems. So do I now drive to Slade Green or Bexleyheath and create “challenges” for those residents.
Solution for me is simply better, cheaper, reliable public transport, not forcing me to drive and reducing capacity for parking when I get there.Asking for comments from “residents” as if no one else entering the area is in any way affected typifies the insular, piecemeal approach Councils adopt. I do suspect the views of non-residents in this consultation will simply be set aside and regarded as irrelevant as they were not invited to respond.
That is why the Club, as a business invited to respond should be fronting this, not ex-pats living outside the area.8 -
The fact is there are too many cars on the road and we cannot build enough roads to cope. The problem
is,you have a man and wife who both might need their own cars for work etc.,then the kids grow up and they want their own cars,so before you know it,a 2 car family is now a 4 car family. This is happening where I live,a small dead end road which was once fairly ok with cars is now over run, nowhere to go,and then of course you have the odd household which brings home the company transit, dont know the answer.3 -
