I generally can’t be arsed with haircuts, I’m probably 2 weeks overdue added to the fact I haven’t shaved, I look like a hobo.
Usually leave it until I start getting the comments from the wife “Are you getting your haircut” which is paraphrased from “You are getting your haircut “
This thread has handily reminded me that as my girlfriend has 2 grandkids over for a week and I am looking for things to get of the house for, a haircut has to bw on the cards.
Maybe even a cut throat razor shave and hot towel treatment.
I got Wahl clippers on Amazon at the start of COVID lockdown and sat Mrs Fattmatt in front of YouTube to learn a short back and sides. I've not been back to a barber since. 20 quid saved every 3 weeks.

£20 for a short back and sides. I pay £9.50 for a two all over and that's this week gone up from £7. For £20 I'd want lunch thrown in

My mrs cut my little remaining bit of hair during Covid with clippers. She was brutal, rather than letting the clippers cut she pushed through the hair with such force it was like the clippers were ripping rather than cutting.
I go to the barbers once a month and have a head shave, costs more than it’s worth but it’s pain free.
Think it’s been done on here many years ago, but many a man had to wait with half a haircut as George fucked off next door to have a punt. Georges next door to Coombes bookmakers, opp Charlton station
The cost is ridiculous these days. Cost £15 to get my 10 year old’s haircut and takes 15-20 mins.
For a child it should still me about £10-11 in my opinion.
What irks me a bit is that for a tenner more you can spend about an hour in there getting the works. Pointless for him though as he hasn’t got a beard.
Cost about £50 every 4-6 weeks to get the sons and mine done.
Barbers are definitely profiting from the vain generation. Admittedly to it is good to look fresh but I reckon they’re busier than 10-20 years ago.
IMHO £15 is pretty good price, I mean thats less than £20. If thats too much im sure you can do it yourself or find somewhere cheaper. When I lived in London and worked in the city, I would go to jack the clippers and it was close to £40. You get for you pay for IMO.

Huh! I pay £12 and I'm done and dusted in 2 minutes - 5 if the barber is in chat mode. I have a number one cut on male pattern baldness and attend when I look in the mirror and think I'm heading for the Coco the Clown look.
I seriously wonder how some of my local barbers make a living when you consider overheads ('scuse the pun) there's so much competition and they're not always busy. According to the London school of barbering:-
As a junior barber, after completing yourtraining, you can expect to earn about £40-£60 per day in salary, and £20 in tips. If you work a 6-day week and 50 weeks per year, this equates to earnings of £18,000 to £24,000. With time and experience, a pro barber can earn as much as £1000 per week or £50k per year.
Last Wednesday for me. About every six seven or eight weeks the haircut, and also a hot towel wet shave to go with it, plus eyebrows nose and ears (not pubes). Also a shoulder massage and a quick hair wash at the end. I see it as my bit of luxury. They charge £29 for all that but I generally make it £35 with the tip.
That is cheap.
Don’t think any of us need to know about your lack of manscaping.
Every 4 to 5 weeks for me - each January I book for the whole year ahead. Same guy has cut my hair for the last 18 years and every time he still says "so what are we doing?"
He’s waiting for the day you say “ A Mohican, please”.
Every 2 weeks !!!! Jesus, hair doesn't grow that quickly. Maybe have a buzz cut & you'll not need to go back for a couple of months.
Number one down the sides and short hair definitely does grow back quickly and usually stronger. People with long unkempt hair are usually the ones that weaken it and see it fall out. I suspect in the attic of every bald guy there is a picture of him in the attic where he had long hair he didn’t get cut very often.
Male hair loss is predominately genetic.
And linked to high testosterone levels. Just saying.
Used to go to a barbers in Lewisham years ago. The owner (woman) only employed young women and gave away free bottles of cheap French beer, it was always rammed 😀.
I had a female dentist who would work on you from behind your head with you lying flat. There was a very satisfying closure of the head/cleavage interface. I always wondered if she was enjoying it as much as I was.
I’m another old git who’s got a father Tuck hair cut (you might have to be over 60 to understand that one😀). My wife now undertake the massive one minute job to cut the hair every other week using the 1/2 clipper, save us £12/ visit to the barbers.

It must be costing him a fortune in haircuts.
