No point in having the most shots if we're not converting.
At least it shows we are creating opportunities and chances, but agree finishing is woeful at the moment...
Not sure who is guilty of poor finishing though ?
Exactly. We’ve not missed gilt edged chances. Just not falling for us or the quality like Apter’s well placed effort against Bristol or Dochertys blocked blast on Saturday need to be even better.
I’d say it’s more lack of composure/ quality in and around the final 3rd to make better use of the dangerous situations we manufacture. Towards the end on Saturday we got into a great position down the right, and 1) TC played a poor pass to Ramsay on the overlap which didn’t help Ramsay 2) Ramsay then got the ball under control anyway despite being set back a little bit then delivered an underhit dinked cross.
Those sort of moments are where we have missed the necessary clinical touch
It feels like the back 6 is sorted, the back 3 Edwards, Coventry and Doc, but NJ does not yet know what his best starting front 4 combination is, hence no goals. There is plenty of choice in the combinations so hopefully he will find it soon and it will click

I think with the front 4, we have to bear in mind some are still getting up to speed with their fitness, mainly Knibbs and Kelman. Knibbs specifically will be the main source of creativity in that midfield, there was one pass towards the end that he guided into the box that just needed someone in the right place. Could eventually see him starting in TC's position, being a LM and a CF, perfect position for him; he can also slot into that CM position if needed during the game.

Leaburn, Coventry and Campbell all missed good chances on Saturday tbf. Two of them didn't even hit the target, so that is poor finishing.
Assume you mean the headed chances in which case those are the last two outfield players you want those chances falling to. That isn’t to say they shouldn’t do better but that heading is never going to be their strong suit

I don’t get the point of TC being in the box for corners, rather he was on the edge or even go short just to pull an extra defender out of the box

He often is there to block someone off (shorter players get away with it more often than bigger ones) or to be able to offer a short option. I know it sounds mad but the ball isn’t meant to drop onto his head

They're professional footballers, they should know how to head the ball.

Think it’s different with us knowing a best XI and NJ. A lot of fans would argue different striker combinations out of TC/Olaofe/Kelman/Leaburn but to NJ seems like he knows it’s TC and one of Kelman/Leaburn. Only other position is the No.10, Knibbs probably the better player but Carey done nothing to deserve being dropped so right now that’s not even a position of concern. NJ knowing 10/11 of his best team at this stage compared to last season is very reassuring
It is too early to come to the conclusions some are. I think it will be tempting to give the same front players who started some time against Cambridge just to help get in the swing of things.

Of course they should, I never said they shouldn’t. I said they are the last 2 players (bar Kaminski) you’d want to have those chances, when you have Jones, Gillesphey, Knibbs, Ramsay etc in the box I don’t think that’s a controversial statement

No it isn't. Some players will always be better with their head than others. I have to be honest and say I would have been disapointed to have headed either chance over when I played. Not saying I wouldn't have, but I would have been frustrated when I did so I take from that, both Coventry and TC should have done better. So I can see both sides of the argument.
Great video mate. Your audio when talking at your seat was a lot better this time around.
Thank you. It's still bloody amateur considering I had it perfect last season.
Last game it was a firmware update, this time it was a loose cable, quite frustrating as I've invested quite a lot into the equipment and had back to back issues.
New cable now and all devices updated, unless the microphone physically explodes next game the audio should be Crystal clear.
What do you mean by loose cable? My work is in audio and sound design, if I can advise id like to 👍🏻
Appreciate that mate, but I think it's all solved now, if something else pops up I will message you 😂

It's not, but the original comment was questioning who was guilty of poor finishing.
It might be an old fashioned take, but if you're playing upfront you should be able to hit the target with a free header from 6 yards out.
Play like that every game and you win more than you lose.
Keep the faith
By not scoring?
Rest assured, you're not alone feeling disappointed that we lost. Everyone is. You may be alone if you couldn't see anything positive in the performance though.
Although that's the worry - if we couldn't win when we played well and they didn't, what happens when teams do play well?
Sometimes a better sign that you win even when not playing well.
That was the story of League 1 for Cafc; so many times there were close games and we won by the odd goal with a strong defence and taking the odd chance but hardly setting the division alive with exciting play.
We need to produce similar performances as against Leicester but obviously take one of the myriad of half chances or clear chances we had. Seeing Coventry and Docherty play so well was a positive and seeing Conor in his box to box role on Saturday with Greg covering him at times was different from CC defensive 6 position from the League 1 campaign.
Gutted at the result but so many positives. Keep the shots at goals up and we will start to score we just need the strikers to take their opportunity whether starters or game changers. We will have to be more accurate with our passing and it was good and bad on Saturday.

A fair and valid point, something I’m sure both players will work on
The Hylton effect. Was similar to the Orient away game last year in that every corner looked like we were going to score. First 2 games we were much better from open play, just need it all to come together and then we will start scoring

The league is a marathon, not a sprint. We should be happy we have started so well and the challenge is keeping the level of performance up. If we can, we will have no worries. If Leicester keep their levels up, they will have lots of worries.

I've no doubt with The Valley faithful behind the boys at home we'll be fine, then pick up the odd point or 3 away, should sees us comfortably mid-table.

TC has had a good start. Needs to cut out the blind passes into touch which stand out at this level! Against good right backs, he's started well.
