Hoping it's not Lembikisa as he didn't look great on his trial imo and can't really see him improving us. Curious to know who it's likely to be as we haven't seen too many names that strongly linked, like we had for a lot of the rest of the window.
Cawley this morning on his Substack weekly roundup:
The indications are that the Addicks will definitely make one more signing before today’s 7pm deadline.
My prediction is that people will be largely unimpressed with whoever comes in, might even call it a panic buy etc. because whoever comes in is surely going to be a Wing-Back, and they're not being brought in to start matches ahead of Apter.
Do we ever make good deadline day signings? It’s not a good day to be doing business, thankfully we’ve done all of ours already
I have a feeling NJ doesn't know the best combination to play up front yet.
agreed .. Nathan's signed 2 quite expensive (for us) strikers yet is selecting last season's duo .. also, i m o playing both Campbell and Apter out wide is a luxury .. Nathan seems to be stuck with a defensive mindset yet plays with 2 'wingers' .. Rankin-Costello, who has shown little so far with limited chances, should be brought in on the left as a 'compromise', i.e. cover for Edwards and to replace Campbell, who as ever, flatters to deceive

You want to play someone who plays as CM or RWB as a striker?

according to R-C and his profile he is a 'play anywhere' all rounder .. AND I didn't say as a striker .. read carefully, I used the term 'compromise' to provide much needed support/cover for Edwards and as support for the striker(s), services which i m o Campbell fails to provide .. we are not scoring goals and have started to concede, change is needed

Started to concede it’s been 1 game the only problem we have at the moment is putting the ball in the back of the net
Interesting. If Jones is saying it's a position we've been looking to improve in since January then we know we were in for a striker in Jan and supposedly missed out on that fella from Colchester late on.
So it could well be an alternative to TC we're looking at then.
Fun fact... Charlton faced Goztepe in Pre-Season last summer, Fofana went on to play for them last season on loan. He's also already played on loan for Burnley, scored four goals in 15-games... So knows how much of a shithole it is up that way

Don't even know where to start with this. Firstly, I don't remember Cawley saying that but if he did I would bank on him not meaning JRC can play all 10 outfield positions. He has only ever played RWB, CM or old fashion 442 style right midfielder, it's been said he can play LWB but that's never actually happened before.
Campbell plays up front as a striker and you are arguing to replace him with JRC, think it's suitable to assume you meant JRC should play as a striker. I genuinely want to know, where on the pitch do you think JRC should play instead of TC?
The last bit is the best bit. "We aren't scoring goals so lets take an attacking player out of the team for a defensive one, that will sort out our issues"

get yer abacus out lol .. were you watching on Saturday ? ..3 conceded as well as the 'back ups' conceding 3 at high flying Cambridge .. total in 3 games =7, defo NOT 1
Asked my Chelsea mate about him and he started telling me about Wesley had to say no David, got our fofana's mixed up. Did say he was a lump that touched the ball once for them though.

Obligatory YouTube video.
Striker who can also play on either wing.
Quick, strong, decent in the air and a good dribbler according to FM.
Alternative to TC? Unless the plan is to stick him at WB.
