Bree is 27 and mainly played in the Champ with some PL experience. Ward’s 30 and mainly played in L1 with some Champ experience.
Based on that Bree looks like he’d be the better signing.
Maybe we’re after both and Ramsay is off…
If any scouts were at the QPR game then I think we’re safe.
I think Ramsay was well known before Saturday tbf. That said it was said more in jest than any belief it will happen.
I think Bree is a good player but injuries look an issue as they do with Ward.
Doesn't apply so much to Ward but with our budget I think we have to accept that with defenders of the quality we're looking for. Burke is a good example and Luton fans said that Bell's hamstrings had gone. Jones and Ramsay are solid CB's who would cost 7 figures if we wanted to buy them now, luckily we don't need to
James Bree is very close with Nathan Jones, he was at the Valley for the Wycombe play off game, he had Premier League interest at the beginning of the summer so interesting we are being linked with him
Not played much for the last few years so I wonder how genuine PL interest was.
Didn't Rankin-Costello have his best spell at RB/RWB for Blackburn? Is he just not an option/good enough there or are we looking for significantly better?
Apropos nothing, the best set piece takers Charlton have had on the books recently are/were Alex Gilbert, Aaron Henry, and out on loan and unrealistic Toby Bower. Gillesphey is more your go for goal free kick bloke than your set piece bloke. Coming up behind is Edward’s ahead of Carey and Coventry.
Just googled James Bree and the first thing that comes up is a free kick he took 3 years ago that's an absolute beauty. Sign him up on that basis alone.
Are we really "missing" chances though? It doesn't feel like that to be honest. It doesn't even feel like we are creating loads despite the XG numbers etc.
Our xG is 18th in the league. So we aren’t creating masses of good chances, but tbh we were never going to at this level. If we stay around 18th for xG we will stay up with our defensive record
Defensive record is history now. Not looking so good atm. Lack of creativity in midfield as they are so tied down with "doing the basics"=defending ,so our strikers left feeding off scraps and opposition errors. No idea if Kelman is any good- he probably needs a good pass to score.
Crazy money! £125m for one player. That could buy Charlton, whole team, club, the Valley and training ground, fix the fan's WIFI, any remaining potholes and move the hand dryer in the lower west gents and still have money left over to buy everyone a beer!!
Hot (or warm water) in East Stand gents please to encourage hand washing
Funnily enough a Saints fan mentioned James Bree to me yesterday and asked if we might take him. Apparently he would be plenty good enough for us but wasn't suitable for the Premier League, which I don't think is going to be an issue. Combative and beloved by Jones apparently which are the two most important attributes for us signing a player

The cheese puns will be unbearable.
No complaints from me if he joins.
Unbelievable when you look back now.
Not only was that leech willing to suck the club dry, but he was taking the piss out of us supporters at the same time.
Sometimes I’d like to meet him on a beach, kick sand in his eyes and bury him at low tide with only his head poking out of the sand.
