    Two photos of the Charlton squad traveling to New York on the Empress of Australia 1937, Jimmy Seed said most of them were seasick.

    The first photo is a postcard of the squad on the Valley Pitch with a life belt from the ship.

    New donation: Note book from the Charlton Athletic Suppoters' Development Association, an early 1960s fundraising group that paid for Charlton's first floodlights. Sort of an early Valley Gold.

    At least one well known surname, Treadgold, on that list of winners.

    We have no idea why the matchbox covers but there are pages & pages of them and like stamps they were collected by some in that era.

    The back story is that a women moved into a house near Sparrows Lane 30 odd years ago and found this in the basement.

    The previous owner of the house was moving to Australia.

    The women decided to keep it but is now moving herself so asked someone to bring it in to the museum.

    There were some raffle tickets in the book.  Some of the match box top designs are wonderful but can't realistically be removed without damaging the CASDA pages, which is the bit that is of interest to us.

    The programme production is going back in house next season and the museum have been asked to carry on contributing a couple of pages so we'll be writing about a different object or collection every week.

    Away travellers of a certain age will instantly recognise these Lewis Coaches booking slips from 1958 to Ipswich and, we think, 1966 to Norwich. Part of a big recent donation from the Town family.

    More formal times: 1950s Supporters' Club newsletters showing dance photos plus a menu with ticket for an early 60s dinner & dance signed by Eddie Firmani.

    Didn't even get a Player of the Year dinner last season.

    Not started as far as I know.

    The 50s dances, at least some, as described in the Red Robin mags were in Greenwich Town Hall.

    No idea why Chiesmans was chosen, perhaps just a good localish venue.

    We should bring back formal wear for supporters club events. Maybe the club shop can sell replica suits.

    If I remember rightly Colin Cowdrey was married to a Chiesman and Derek Ufton played cricket with Colin (so the club might have got a discount)

    There was a Chiesmans department store in Gravesend back in the day - had a restaurant on top floor, with view over the Thames - great store - I recall our next door neighbour (when I was a lad) worked for them - if I recall correct, they were bought by House of Fraser

    Some non-Charlton programmes

    The pirate Sunderland v Spurs programme is probably the rarest and so most valuable.

    The Managers XI included, according to the programme, three former Addicks; Bartram, Welsh and Stock. The showbiz team lists Sean Connery.

    That's lovely @Henry Irving and I saw it with my own eyes yesterday too. I only came down a few months ago, but on yesterdays visit I was so impressed that since then there has been a refresh of new items/displays, so it is always worth a regular revisit I say.
