Hike in aid of Charity

edited September 9 in Not Sports Related
Bit of a different post from me than usual.

I’ve signed myself up for something pretty ambitious, a just over 100km hike, with an ascent and descent equivalent to Mount Kilamanjaro next April. Which I've dubbed my Mind Over Mountains Challenge, which I’m doing it in support of Mind, the mental health charity.

The reason I chose this is because I want to raise awareness around mental health, especially about speaking up when things get tough. It’s something I’ve personally struggled with, and I know a lot of people in here will understand how heavy it can feel when you keep it all in. The truth is, none of us are on our own, even if it feels like it sometimes. CL and the Charlton family especially are great outlets for that.

I’ve deliberately made this challenge a big one because I want it to reflect the reality of mental health, with it being as much a mental challenge as a physical one. because lets be honest, mental health is in many ways a bit like watching Charlton, never straightforward, and it tests every bit of patience and belief you’ve got.

I’ll be posting updates on my progress and the event itself on a separate Instagram page I have created for those of you who have it, which can be found here, if anyone fancies following along.  https://www.instagram.com/mindovermountains_/

The Donation link’s in the bio over there or alternatively can be found here. https://www.justgiving.com/page/es-mind-challenge1 I have only just announced that I'm going to be doing this so apologies for the lack of content at this point, there is a character limit for posts on just giving but I will be updating every 1-2 weeks with small progress, but will try and keep this post and the Instagram updated in more depth.

If you do want to support, please feel free to share with family and friends, and I'm happy to answer any questions, and any advice from anybody who has done anything similar in the past would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers for reading, and if this post gains no traction and nothing else comes of it I hope, at the very least it reminds someone that it’s alright to speak up and seek help about the troubles they are going through.

Final start location yet be decided but will be from near the bottom of the lake district (in the area of Grange Over Sands) To the end point which has been decided, which is Hadrian's walls end point (Bowness-on-Solway) with the route itself traversing the spine of the Lake District!
