The waterfront/docklands apartments (plus other building work) appeal to young professionals ( usually without kids) especially now because of the increased transport links. The question is when the people who have been living there for 10 plus years (who dont own their homes) are moved out, and they will eventually be moved out, where do they go ?

The only person I ever heard say something other than "Woolidge" was Pete Shelley of the Buzzcocks who walked onstage at Thames Poly and said "Hello Wool Which" to general amusement.

I think it has (as we would remember it in the 70s/80s) but I read somewhere that some stalls are coming back. Others would know better.

No, but much smaller & mostly located on 'high pavement', Covered market empty.

Beresford square market is still going. The indoor market has been long gone. Still waiting on it to be turned into flats and a cinema.

Growing up as a kid in Woolwich I still remember vividly the wonderful outdoor and indoor markets. My mate still has the Flower stall on the market which he has worked on since the 70s. Was only chatting to him there the other day. Hope this new investment in that area gives it a new lease of life - markets are wonderful places!!

I'm not old enough to remember trams, but I do remember the tram lines still being in the square - I'm assuming they have gone now.
