Why are some people blaming the club.

Because they have allowed this decision to be made.There isn't another club in the country  that would allow this to happen to their home fans. So, and I'm making a wild assumption, despite any protests the club may have made, they were told what was going to happen and that was that. 
If any other club in the country are given instructions on how the crowd will be controlled outside of the ground then they would have to comply.
The police will always have the final say. 

So, why is it, that Greenwich police think this is the way to handle the situation, when every other police force don't?

All jokes aside, there’s people on here who have called it, the vast majority of away fans there will be season ticket holders who have the required number of loyalty points. This won’t be like the old rent a mob crowd who would turn out for big games when tickets are readily available. I’m not saying there won’t be trouble, some isolated incidents, but grounds getting smashed up? Calm down my dear, it ain’t gonna happen 😆

On a practical level I  wonder for how long they will actually limit the access / enforce the diversion?

Presumably it’s more linked to how quickly the platforms clear and hence it won’t just be a 20 minute thing.

In 2019 Charlton fans smashed up the toilets at Gillingham. If that happened only 6 years ago (and lawlessness has only got worse post COVID) I guarantee you there will be breakages by Millwall at our ground tomorrow.

It’s just the view of one Millwall fan on this forum who is protesting it does not happen anymore.  £10 goes to the upbeats if there is no damage to the ground by Millwall tomorrow.

Let us all out at the same time, make the station Charlton only (using that beautifully landscaped walkway to the platform) and force Millwall fans to walk to New Cross/New Cross Gate/London Bridge if they want a train.

I'm sure I read somewhere that a new Overground train station has been approved to be built right next to the ground so this would make even more sense if it happens and gave Millwall the new station while we get South Bermondsey.

Not slated to start development until next year. God knows when it would be ready. 

Why is the Millwall game always so bloody awful. 

It isn't so much damage to the ground that concerns me but damage to persons.
'Isolated incidents' might happen it has been suggested, well nobody should initiate an 'isolated' incident from any quarter.
However for some reason the authorities particularly want to keep the fans separated but didn't see fit to separate Charlton fans from Leicester fans or Watford fans, but this game is seen as different, one has to ask why, or why do it if the Millwall support is only season ticket holders and members, all pussycats.

This isn’t the club’s fault. Mick is pretty good at managing the police, but in the end they decide and especially outside the ground. I also understand that the club doesn’t want to “own” the story, but it is pitiful that it left it to the police to tweet it and as ever no one at the club will put their name to its position. That’s what you get paid for, guys.
