RIP Ricky Hatton

  • Only 46, no age at all. I hope there wasn't any ill play invovled.

He'll be remembered as one of the most popular boxers in history. The support he took to fights in America was unpresidented. He also came across as a very genuine and humble man.

Blimey.  Wasnt he in training for a comeback-come-exhibition in the not too distant future or have I imagined that?!

    RIP.
You're right, he was supposed to be fighting in Dubai in early December.
  • Really sad, came across as a humble and decent guy.

    RIP.

Yes, he was due to fight Eisa Al Dah in Dubai, in December.

    RIP

That's really sad to hear. RIP Ricky.
  • Not a boxing fan particularly but Ricky Hatton always seemed a very likeable person and I followed his career closer than most other boxers.  RIP. How sad at such a young age.

Choked me up a bit this one, as seemed way too young. Been a rough week of passings.

May your troubles be over now champ as others have said boxing was the one thing he couldn’t replace in his life.

To this day, I still say he was robbed against Mayweather.

His corner threw in the towel IIRC?

RIP - 46 is no age at all 🙁

    Working class hero.
Saw him vs Mayweather in Vegas. The number of fans that travelled for him was incredible.

    RIP.
    Yep. Was there as well.

It’s sad that this doesn’t surprise me. Many troubled blokes around and I hope him speaking up has helped plenty of others if not himself.

    RIP Hitman.
  • Unfortunately not a huge shock to me but still desperately sad.

    May he rest in peace
  • RIP Ricky, seemed genuinely nice guy, I hope he is at peace now.

People complained about the ref at the time allowing zero holding.
  • RIP.

Wasn’t there talk about him going back in the ring recently?

Only after the god awful officiating of Joe Cortez who pretty much kept Hatton away from Mayweather for the first 5 rounds! Probably as he was paid to do.
  • So sad,RIP Ricky, thanks for some wonderful moments.

The ref didn’t help. But he was well beaten.
RH was as good as he could possibly be - but was beaten that night by a generational fighter.
There was no shame in it.
    RIP.

I’m pretty sure Pep Guardiola had a genuine tear in his eye for the tribute there.

Shocked and gutted by this. A true boxing legend of our era. I’ll never forget that Mayweather fight. Not just the fight, but felt like an entire nation was behind him. RIP.
