Apparently Bolton are back in for him, come from Alan Nixon though 

If Godden is out for a few weeks, that brings us into September.
He's then got to get match fit.
I reckon he won't feature until October if we're lucky.

We certainly do, and in the meantime maybe need to adjust our forward play whilst he's not in the team... We're too used to having Campbell playing wide, with Godden operating as the lone man in the middle... We're almost trying to get Kelman and Leaburn to play the Godden role, whereas we need to possibly adjust to play those two in THEIR best roles.

Is Campbell also suffering because he's trying to play his normal way, but we don't have Godden in the middle so they cant predict each others movement, like what we saw worked well last season.

Sadly agree. He's never been prolific in the Champ. He scored 8 and 6 in his last two seasons, and he's also now 34 years old. 

It's natural that we look to the injured players when we're in a tough spell, but I don't think he's going to be the answer this season. 

Cawley said NJ mentioned on Thursday that Godden was “back on the grass”, but made the point that doesn’t mean he’s back in full training. So late September makes sense.

Striker only has good as the service they get ..  he could be 40 but if he was getting 5 chances a game he would still score 2

The sooner Matt Godden is back the better Charlton will have its Mojo back. Yes, we were brilliant yesterday considering where we were this time last year. But with all the opportunities and possession in front of goal, you cannot help but think that godden would be by a long shot the best option in front of goal right now. That is not to say that other strikers won’t become much better; a bit like Macaulay Gillespie became very good last season as the team progressed, but it just seems frustrating that we lack something in front of goal that Godden displayed very easily in the second half of last season albeit in league one. The reason we are not winning while being the better team is simply due to the fact that we are not taking chances.

There nothing Godden would have done any different to Kelman yesterday … Kelman wa excellent his movement both with or without the ball was very good … and had a few good runs where he created for others 

The older you get, the longer recovery will usually take. He'll be desperate to get back, but he isn't the silver bullet.

I don't think him coming back suddenly means we will get a bagfuls of extra goals - we're not creating that many chances. Having not had the same pre-season, it's not like he's going to hit the ground running and play multiple 90s. The main game he would have made the difference was the Leicester game.

Realistically, it's going to be a while until we see a fit and ready Godden.

He'd win a few headers at the very least.

Godden is definitely benefitting from the adage that everyone looks better when they aren't playing - not that he's not a good player and maybe we would be a point or two better off but I'm not convinced he's the elixir that some people seem to believe.

All of our strikers have to different degrees struggled to make the step up (so far), I really don't think that Godden would somehow be the exception - he's only ever had one really decent season in the Championship and that was three or 4 years ago with more mileage/injuries since then.
