That’s a regular excuse for not knowing a subject on that programme and others. It’s just an excuse for being a bit ignorant or maybe a touch of brain fog.
I wasn’t around, like most of us, for the Roman Empire but if that subject came up I would expect to be able to answer most questions, they do tend to make the questions answerable.
Wrong thread but what really annoys me about that particular programme is the contestants praise and encouragement they give each other. I’d be well annoyed if someone got half a dozen of coins over that I had set up.
