  • He comes across very well and a bright happy character to have in the dressing room. Works hard and if he continues to improve will be a great player. What’s not to like?

Oh no, don't show that to a load on here that claimed he's only a winger!
  • But he usually makes about 10 different and evolving arguments, so he can now refer to one being accurate.

I wonder if Cawley told Apter he was wrong?

    From Cawley email newsletter today.

"It’s a right wing-back but the way I play, even the gaffer and his assistant, they give me the freedom,” said Apter, chatting to South London Sport: Charlton Athletic Edition. “So when we attack, you go and do your stuff…be as attacking and influential as I can be. That is great for me, that when we are attacking I can go and do my stuff. But I’ve also got to get back and defend, which I feel I have done well"

It's a very fluid formation... 3-5-2, 4-3-3, 4-1-4-1 all possible shapes within the system.

Before I'd seen him live, I didn't appreciate his Jack Russell tenacity.

Feel sorry for the lad, he was one of our best players in the first few games, clearly very talented, and now he can’t even get 20 mins off the bench.

I think there’s a role for him in this team, obviously not at rwb where Bree is excelling, but maybe in the TC role? His final ball is miles better.

It's the way it goes sometimes, there's a long season ahead and I'm sure he'll get another chance in one role or another. He's just got to look at the example of Gillesphey to see how to seize the opportunity when it arises.

He has to earn his place like everyone else. Even Godden had to earn his place at the start last season, his time will come.

Not sure it works because Apter is best playing on the right, he’s not effective on the left so can’t replace TC. I think he will just have to be patient now and try and make an impact if he gets a chance from the bench

We haven’t actually seen that to judge it. Small was a left sided player who ended up being amazing on the right for us.

Nearly every goal apter scores is from the inside right channel area of the pitch. Playing him anywhere else other than the right would be silly, which is why every club he’s played at plays him on the right

Play him on the right and Kelman the left side of the front 2.

Think we could have really done with his energy for the last 15 mins or so yesterday.

Wow, inside right, that's an old term, and before anyone starts, that's not a criticism...👍

You’ve just ignored my point. Im sure your statement is correct; All his goals are from this side because that’s where he’s played.

That doesn’t mean he wouldn’t or couldn’t be effective on the left, which given Bree’s form at the minute is the only possible option for him to play. Aside from Small, there have been countless examples of wide players able to play both sides to good effect. The skills he has look like he could also do well gliding down the left and I think his crossing style might actually be better suited to that side (albeit less so his shooting style).

The best possible position you can be in as a club is having good players who have done nothing at all wrong and still can't get into the team. That means you have serious competition for places and that's a good thing, we're just not used to it. No need to crowbar players into the team in new positions, it's a long season and there will be opportunities. The best thing that can happen now is Bree keeps playing as well as he has, gets rested and then Apter plays so well Bree can't get back in

He was a bit of a liability in the millwall game and relieved when he was taken off - kept losing the ball. I'm not saying he isn't decent and not writing him off but not 100% convinced he's gonna nail down a regular starting spot just yet.

Considering the fact Bree May not be here past January, and we haven’t gone a goal down yet where he’s likely to come off the bench in that scenario don’t think he needs to panic about his future just yet although it is unfortunate for him because he’s played wel but Bree has just been different
  • Reckon he starts against Sheffield. Worse team in the league due to circumstances. At home we can really take it to them

I don’t think so mate NJ will stick to the same starting lineup if everyone is fit. Not that I don’t agree I personally would start Apter just don’t think NJ will
